Heavy defeat for Dolphin in Ulster Bank League Division 1A as Cork Constitution and Young Munster win but Garryowen are still searching for their first win of the campaign. Test

Defending champions Lansdowne recorded their biggest win of the campaign with a 61-11 home win over Dolphin on the back pitch in the Aviva Stadium. The home side were 32-6 ahead at half time with Barry Keeshan kicking two penalties for Dolphin and their only try was scored by Eamon Mills.

A great second half rally by Cork Constitution saw them come from 15-3 down at half time to claim the points on a 22-18 score line. Gerry Hurley, James Ryan and Rob Jermyn were the Con’ try scorers and Darragh Lyons kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Young Munster defeated third placed U.C.D. 22-16 at Clifford Park but still remain in fifth place eight points behind the leaders. Though well on top throughout, Young Munster, got a bit of a scare in the final few minutes when a Tom Fletcher try for UCD left the home side 19-16 in front. Man of the match Brian Haugh ensured the points stayed at home by landing his fifth penalty and he had a personal tally of seventeen by also converting the only try for the home side by Dan Goggin.

A try by Andrew O’Byrne was not enough for Garryowen who lost away to second placed Old Belvedere at Anglesea Road 15-5

Two tries in each half gave U.L. Bohemian a bonus try win against Buccaneers at Annacotty to keep their promotion challenge alive in Division 1B. David Johnston, after seven minutes, and Jack O'Donoghue after 37, had the first half tries, the second of which Robbie Bourke converted. In between the tries Ben Carty kicked a penalty for the visitors and he landed another seven minutes into the second half. James Tormey had a Buccaneers try after 56 minutes to leave only three points between them at 14-11 but the home side got on top in the final quarter with Ed Kelly and replacement hooker Kevin O'Byrne getting tries.

Shannon moved further away from the relegation battle with a narrow 19-18 victory Malone at Gibson Park. Andrew Finn, David Donovan and Sean Horgan were try scorers for Shannon and Tadhg Bennett added two conversions.

A bad day for the five Munster sides in Division 2A as all five lost.

U.C.C. lost their colours game at home to Old Wesley 14-9. Sean Og Murphy kicked two penalties for the students and Kevin Kidney one.

Cashel also suffered a home defeat losing to Seapoint 15-11.

Old Crescent lost away to Galwegians 34-0 and Bruff are still searching for their first victory after losing narrowly 19-15 to Ballymena at Eaton Park.

Tries from Paul Martin and Paul Stack and a penalty by Ian O’Donoghue were not enough for Highfield who lost at home to NUIM Barnhall 31-13.

Nenagh Ormond continue to set the pace in Division 2B after their 41-8 home win over Richmond.

Thomond kept their promotion challenge alive with a 24-9 home win over Instonians.

Midleton turned on their flood lights on Friday night but it was visitors Sunday’s Well who took the honours with a 22-14 victory. Entering the final ten minutes Midleton led 14-12 but indiscipline cost them dearly as they had three players shown yellow cards in the closing stages. Shane O’Riordan kicked a drop goal and then converted a try by Eamon Murphy. O’Riordan had earlier kicked four penalties for the ‘Well and Midleton replied with a try by Diarmuid O’Sullivan and three penalties by Jeff Hitchmough.

Clonakilty defeated Waterpark 28-19 in the only game in Division 1 of the Munster Junior League. Kieran Howlin scored two tries for the West Cork side and Ethan Jennings and Stephen Cotter got one each. Ciaran Calnan converted all four. Waterpark replied with tries from Scott Hornibrook, Eoin O’Connor and Oran Keevers and Geoff Deegan added two conversions.

Thurles failed to move into the promotion places in Division Two after their 11-6 defeat away to Ennis. Brian Dolan scored a try for Ennis and Lyndon Jones kicked two penalties. Eoghan O’Dwyer replied with two penalties for Thurles.

Killarney lost valuable ground in the promotion race as they lost at home to Crosshaven 10-7. Rory Hofler scored a try for Crosshaven and Ian Smyth converted. Kenny Donovan added a drop goal. Paudie Sheahan replied with two penalties for the home side.

Castleisland won the Kerry derby defeating Killorglin 27-13. Kieran Downey, T.J. Casey and Matt Ahern were try scorers for Castleisland who were also awarded a penalty try and Con Reynolds kicked a penalty and two conversions. Killorglin replied with a try from Liam Griffin and a conversion and two penalties by Trevor West.
