Kanturk have drawn level on points with St. Mary’s at the top of Division One of the Munster Junior League.

Clonakilty and leaders St. Mary’s played out a 6-6 draw at The Vale. Ben Sargent gave the visitors a half time lead with a penalty after Twenty Two minutes. Midway through the second half Ciaran Calnan kicked a penalty for Clonakilty to level. Minutes later Ben Martin restored Mary’s advantage with a penalty but Calnan levelled ten minutes from time. Calnan had an opportunity to win it for Clonakilty but his difficult effort in the final minute failed to reach the target.

Kanturk moved into second place when they ended Cobh Pirate’s unbeaten run with a 22-6 victory. The sides were level 6-6 at half time with Stephen McAuliffe kicking two penalties for the home side and Eoin Geary replied with two for Cobh. Tries from Conor O’Sullivan and Kealon Buckley, a drop goal by Paul Cotter and a third penalty by McAuliffe saw Kanturk take the spoils.

Tralee and Newcastle West now share joint third place. Newcastle West defeated bottom side Galbally 17-6. Galbally led 16-3 at the interval with a try from Wallace Bourke and a conversion and three penalties by Sean Bourke. Sean Herlihy replied with a penalty for the visitors. Three second half penalties from Herlihy and a try by Stephen Kelly gave the visitors the points.

Tralee recorded a 28-22 away win over Kilfeacle. Jamie Burns, Eoin O’Carroll and Kieran Crowley scored tries for the Kerry side and Garreth Walsh added two conversions and three penalties. The home side had two tries from Pat Ryan and one each from Jake O’Halloran and Diarmuid O’Donnell. Gavin Heuston kicked a conversion but Kilfeacle will rue the many missed penalty chances.

Clonmel bounced back to winning ways after last week’s defeat by Kanturk with a 39-6 bonus point victory at home to Old Christians. Clonmel led 10-6 at the break with a try from Robbie Carroll and a conversion and penalty by Conor Cooney. Stuart Lee replied with two penalties for the Rathcooney side. A penalty from Cooney was followed by a try from Greg Carroll and three by Mark Corby three of which Cooney converted.

Skibbereen moved up three places in the table after their 16-10 home win over Waterpark. The West Cork side led 8-0 at half time with a try from Ger O’Mahony and a Ger Hurley penalty. David Shannon added a drop goal in the second half and Steve Hansel scored a try. Barry Joyce replied with a try for Waterpark and Geoff Deegan kicked a conversion and a penalty.

Muskerry defeated Mallow 12-3 in the battle between the two promoted clubs at Ballyanly. A try from Brian Desmond converted by Darragh Masterson gave Muskerry a 7-3 interval lead. Andy Cashman kicked a penalty for Mallow. The only score of the second half was a try from John Buckley for the home side.

St. Senan’s remain top of the Second Division after their 15-7 home win over neighbours Ennis. Stephen Ryan and Warren Kelly scored tries for Senan’s and Declan Rowe added a conversion and a penalty. Enda Galvin scored a try for Ennis and David Murphy converted.

Kinsale remain in second place after their 24-6 home win over Presentation. Pat O’Regan scored two tries for Kinsale and Ian Costello kicked four penalties and a conversion. Mark Phair replied with two penalties for the visitors.

Clanwilliam defeated Killorglin 12-9 with tries from Padraic Ryan and Pat Noonan. Brian Kissane kicked a conversion. Killorglin replied with a penalty from Dave Coffey and two by Trevor West.

Castleisland defeated Youghal 38-10. Gary Downey and Kieran Downey scored two tries each and Connie Reynolds and Mike Sullivan one. JJ Casey converted four of the tries.

In the other games Bandon had a 25-7 away win over Newport and Thurles defeated Waterford City 16-3.

The game between Killarney and Crosshaven was postponed.

In the Third Division Abbeyfeale defeated Carrigaline 19-3. Donnacha Kiely put Carrigaline ahead with a penalty but a try by John Browne converted by Thomas Hassett put Abbeyfeale 7-3 ahead at half time. Daniel Murphy and Colin Quirke added second half tries and Hassett added a conversion.

The shock of the day was in Moneygourney when Charleville ended Douglas’s unbeaten run with an 8-6 victory. Two penalties from Eoin Philpott to one by Bobby Rea gave Douglas a 6-3 half time lead. Tiernan Brown scored the all important try after the break.

Fermoy defeated Scariff 28-7 to record their first win of the season. A try from Peter Skuse and a conversion and two penalties by Cathal O’Keeffe gave Fermoy a 13-0 interval lead. Ian Hutchinson and John Duggan scored second half tries and O’Keeffe added a conversion and a penalty.
