In Pics: Johne Murphy Through The Years

Across five seasons Johne Murphy made 91 appearances for Munster in which he scored 12 tries. Here we take look back at his time with the province in pictures.

A native of Kildare and having previously played for Lansdowne FC, in 2010 Murphy joined Munster from the Leicester Tigers where he had spent five seasons, becoming their top try scorer in 2008/09.

Ever versatile, Murphy played across the back three and in the centre for the province and can count Munster’s historic win over Australia at Thomond Park in 2010 and the 2011 Magners League title among his achievements.

Prior to playing for Munster, the utility back represented his country against the Barbarians at Thomond Park in June 2010 and was last year selected for the Nations Cup winning Emerging Ireland squad with Murphy captaining the side in their win over Uruguay.

A Blue September ambassador, last season also saw Murphy round up his provincial team-mates to 'keep up' the fight against men's cancer by playing 'keepy-uppy' with a rugby ball – see the below video.
