2016/17 Guinness PRO12 Fixtures

The dates, venues and kick-off times for Rounds 1 to 13 of the Guinness PRO12 have been released and see Munster play a total of 6 home games, including two Friday night kick-offs in Cork, three Saturday afternoon games in Limerick, plus Leinster at Thomond Park on St Stephen’s Day.

The weekends-of for the remaining 9 fixtures have also been confirmed.
 

New for the forthcoming 2016/17 season, Championship organisers have designated six 'Big Weekends' across the season that will comprise of special intra-union derby matches as well as capitalising on the rivalry between the Italian and Scottish clubs. The 'Big Weekends' will include signature match-ups such as the 1872 Cup Scottish derby, the annual Leinster versus Munster game at the Aviva Stadium, the Italian derby and the double header Judgement Day spectacular between the Welsh Regions.

Opening their campaign away to Scarlets on Saturday September 3rd, Munster’s first home game of the season is against Cardiff Blues in Irish Independent Park, Cork the following Friday at 7:35pm.
 
It’s back to Wales for Round 3 where the province will face Newport-Gwent Dragons before making their first appearance of the season at Thomond Park against Edinburgh Saturday September 24th at 3pm.
 
Munster will play two non-televised games in the opening 13 rounds, the first of which comes in Round 5 when they welcome Zebre to Thomond Park on Saturday October 1st at 5pm, while a week later, Munster travel to the Aviva Stadium for the first 'Big Weekend' of the campaign to face Leinster on Saturday October 8th at 2:05pm.
 
Following a break for European action, Munster return to the interprovincial fold straight away with a visit to Kingspan Stadium on Friday October 28th at 7:35pm and Friday-Night-Lights continue in Cork a week later when Munster host Ospreys at Irish Independent Park on November 4th at 7:35pm.
 
Treviso’s trip to Thomond Park on Saturday November 26th at 5pm is the second of Munster’s non-televised games.
 
Munster travel to Glasgow Warriors in early December and, following the second block of European fixtures, will go toe-to-toe with Leinster at Thomond Park on St Stephen’s Day at 5:30pm.
 
It’s off to Galway a week later where Munster will face reigning champions Connacht on New Year’s Eve at 5:30pm before rounding off the opening 13 rounds away to Edinburgh at Myreside.

Also confirmed is Munster’s second ‘Big Weekend’ encounter where they will welcome Ulster to Thomond Park on Saturday April 15th at 3pm, while the regular season will end with 'Super Saturday' and six big intra-union matches in Round 22 with Munster welcoming Connacht to Limerick on Saturday May 6th at 5:15pm.
