Members of the Munster Rugby Patrons Programme were recently invited to the High Performance Centre in UL to enjoy a unique immersive experience of seeing the Greencore Munster Rugby Academy programme in operation.

Patrons enjoyed an exclusive fly-on-the-wall opportunity to spend the day with Greencore Academy Manager Ian Costello, Head Coach Graham Rowntree, the coaching team, and squad.

Established in 2014, the Munster Patrons Programme has gone from strength to strength over the years and is a key pillar of the Commercial Department with invested supporters sharing a collective desire to see the club and provincial game thrive and prosper. The ongoing support from Patrons helps fund identified projects across the Academy and Community programmes.

Former Munster player and Corporate Ambassador, Donncha O’Callaghan, works closely with the Patrons and was also on hand at their recent HPC visit.

Commenting on the access, Patrons Programme Manager Mark O’Driscoll said, “It was a fantastic experience for our Patrons to catch up with Ian, Graham, and the squad and to see how players are supported on the elite player pathway.

“Our attending Patrons got an incredible insight into training, match preparation, and overall operations of the high-performance setting. It was great to have all elements working so closely together, with the Academy aligned to everything the senior squad were doing.”

While coaches presented overall plans, shared insights and analysis of the game, there was also a Q&A opportunity for all attendees with great engagement on the day. Patrons found huge benefit from the access and were pleased to see the continued success of the player development pathway all stemming from the community game.

The Patrons Programme is an altruistic opportunity for individuals or businesses that align themselves to the same values to make a meaningful contribution to the future of Munster Rugby.
