As we prepare for the business end of the season, take a look at the stats, highlights and best pics from Munster Rugby’s campaign so far.

Graham Rowntree’s side have 10 wins in 18 games with six of those defeats by a margin of seven points or less.

Munster are sixth in the URC with five games remaining. See the table here.

The province qualified for the round of 16 in the Champions Cup after two wins over Northampton and two narrow defeats to Toulouse.

A historic clash against South Africa A at Páirc Uí Chaoimh saw Munster beat a South Africa touring side for the first time.

Appearances & Academy

48 players have lined out for Munster so far this season – 41 senior players and seven Greencore Munster Rugby Academy players.

There have been 27 appearances for Academy players so far this season with Patrick Campbell (nine) and Edwin Edogbo (seven) leading the way.

Attack & Defence

Munster have scored 390 points and 50 tries in 18 games, averaging 22 points per game and 2.7 tries.

We have conceded 309 points and 36 tries – conceding an average score of 17 points and 2 tries.

Munster only conceded five tries in four Champions Cup Pool games, joint-top with Leinster for the least tries conceded.

Debuts

There have been debuts for seven players this season, including four Greencore Munster Rugby Academy members.

The full list of debutants includes: Edwin Edogbo, Malakai Fekitoa, Antoine Frisch, Fionn Gibbons, Kiran McDonald, Conor Phillips and Ruadhán Quinn.

There have been Munster Champions Cup debuts for Fekitoa, Frisch and Paddy Patterson.

Points & Appearances

Joey Carbery is the top points scorer with 90 points and Gavin Coombes leads the way on tries with 8 in 13 games.

Niall Scannell and Jack O’Donoghue are top of the appearances charts having both featured in 16 games so far this season.

Shane Daly has played the most minutes with the winger clocking up 1,112 minutes on the field in his 15 appearances.

Awards & Landmarks

Peter O’Mahony, Joey Carbery, Paddy Patterson, Tadhg Beirne (two), Jean Kleyn, Jack Crowley, John Hodnett (two) and Gavin Coombes have been Munster’s Player of the Match winners so far this season.

Gavin Coombes was included in the initial longlist for European Player of the Year after the Pool stages with two tries in four appearances.

John Ryan made his landmark 200th Munster appearance with Niall Scannell reaching 150 caps for Munster.

Tadhg Beirne, Joey Carbery, Craig Casey, Shane Daly and Ben Healy all made their 50th Munster appearances this season.

Internationals

20 Munster senior and Academy players have been on international duty for Ireland, Ireland A, Emerging Ireland and the Ireland U20s.

Tadhg Beirne, Craig Casey, Jack Crowley, Dave Kilcoyne, Jeremy Loughman, Conor Murray and Peter O’Mahony have lined out for the Ireland senior men’s team with Crowley and Loughman earning their first Ireland caps.

Casey, Loughman and Crowley have also featured for Ireland A along with Diarmuid Barron, Gavin Coombes, Calvin Nash and Shane Daly.

Crowley also represented Emerging Ireland on their tour to South Africa as Barron, Nash and Daly also made that trip along with Tom Ahern, Antoine Frisch, John Hodnett, Roman Salanoa and Josh Wycherley.

Academy duo Ruadhán Quinn and Evan O’Connell have featured for the Ireland U20s along with Brian Gleeson, Danny Sheahan and Sheahan.

Salanoa received his first call-up to the Ireland senior men’s team with Ben Healy included in the Scotland squad for the first time.

Malakai Fekitoa has also lined out for Tonga this season.

Attendances

Munster have sold-out three home games in three different venues so far this season – Páirc Uí Chaoimh, Thomond Park and Musgrave Park.

A record crowd for rugby in Munster saw 41,400 supporters attend Páirc Uí Chaoimh for the sold-out clash against South Africa A in November.

25,600 were in attendance at Thomond Park for the URC Interpro derby against Leinster on St Stephen’s Day.

Musgrave Park was sold out for the game against Lions at the beginning of January with an 8,008 crowd in attendance.

Additionally, the 21,884 attendance for Munster v Toulouse at Thomond Park was the biggest crowd in Round 1 of the Champions Cup.
