Shay McCarthy in action for Young Munster RFC.
We spoke to new Munster Rugby Academy member Shay McCarthy earlier this month for his first interview since joining the province.
Shay started out at Richmond RFC and won a Munster Schools Junior Cup with St Munchin’s College in 2018 alongside fellow Academy man Kieran Ryan.
He has impressed with Young Munster in the AIL over the past two seasons and made his Ireland U20s debut against France in June 2022.
He trained with the Munster Academy for a number of months last season and joined the Academy this summer.
