Fineen Wycherley To Hit 100 With Munster
10th November 2023 By The Editor
Tonight’s game against Ulster will be a special one for Fineen Wycherley as he makes his 100th appearance for Munster at the age of just 25.
The achievement comes weeks after brother Josh made his 50th Munster appearance against Sharks.
Fineen made his Munster debut at the age of 19 against Cardiff in 2017 having come up through the ranks of Bantry Bay RFC and Cistercian College Roscrea.
He lined out for the Munster U18 Clubs and won an Interpro title with the Munster U19s before joining the Munster Academy ahead of the 2016/17 season.
His first year in the Academy saw Fineen help Munster A to the British & Irish Cup title and make his Munster debut in Cardiff.
Also lining out with Young Munster in the AIL, Fineen won the Academy Player of the Year award in 2018 and made his Champions Cup debut against Castres at the age of 20.
That 2018/19 season saw Fineen establish himself as a key member of the squad and he racked up 16 appearances.
2019/20 saw Fineen make 19 appearances and an impressive start to the 2020/21 season earned him an inclusion in Ireland’s training camp in October 2020.
He made 21 appearances during the 2020/21 season and capped off a fine year with his Ireland debut against USA in the Vodafone Summer Series in July 2021.
The lock was well-established come the 2021/22 season appearing in 23 of Munster’s 26 games.
While he missed a large chunk of last year with injury he returned to action in January and featured prominently over the second half of the campaign, making 12 appearances as Munster won the URC title.
