Speaking after the win, Director of Rugby Rassie Erasmus commented, “It was great to get the job done, especially with all the changes we made, after losing Billy (Holland) late on due to illness, and with the unfortunate injuries we picked up in the opening half – Ronan O’Mahony and Dave O’Callaghan.  Treviso have been on a bit of a run so when you take all that into account we are happy with the result.

“It was great also that we could blend four academy lads into the system today – Conor Oliver, Rory Burke, Brian Scott and Fineen Wycherley – and credit must go to all in the academy for that.  They all stepped up very well. Technically they are still developing but physically they are there which is wonderful.”

With Connacht next on the horizon as the regular season comes to an end, Erasmus added, “With the home semi final already secured we will probably need to juggle a little – match fitness for some guys, form for others, and try to get some injured guys back.  But overall, we must try to win against a team who like to run the ball from all over the park.
