Squad Update

With no competitive fixture this weekend the squad have enjoyed a later start to the week, gathering in the High Performance Centre in UL today with preparations commencing for Munster’s semi-final showdown against Ospreys in Thomond Park on Saturday May 20th.

After meeting with the specialist Dave O’Callaghan will not play a part in the upcoming plans as the Youghal-man continues to rehab a knee injury sustained against Treviso.

In the aftermath of Munster’s table topping final round against Connacht Alex Wootton and Tyler Bleyendaal are the latest injury concerns.

Wootton sustained a hamstring injury and was replaced early in the second half, while Bleyendaal who finished the game, presented with a bicep injury and both players are currently rehabbing with the medical team.

Conor Murray and Jean Deysel showed no ill effects following their return to play after respective shoulder and rib injuries.

Meanwhile Rory Scannell will return to full training this week after completing his return to play protocols for a concussion sustained against Saracens.

Not available – Ronan O’Mahony (fibula), Robin Copeland (shoulder), Jean Kleyn (neck), Dave Foley (wrist), Sean McCarthy (knee), Mike Sherry (back).

On the club front a number of players featured in Cork Constitution’s All Ireland League Final win against Clontarf at the Aviva on Sunday.

Hooker Kevin O’Byrne and academy players Vincent O’Brien, Ned Hodson, Shane Daly, Rory Burke and Liam O’Connor all featured in the 25-21 victory.

Ahead of the Guinness PRO12 Semi-Finals two coin tosses were also held in Dublin on Sunday in order to assign various rights to the teams who will reach the Final at Aviva Stadium on May 27.

Home Changing Room at the Guinness PRO12 Final (won by Munster)

• The winner of Munster Rugby v Ospreys Rugby will be in the Home Changing Room in Aviva Stadium
• The winner of Leinster Rugby v Scarlets will be in the Away Changing Room in Aviva Stadium

Playing Strip (lost by Munster)

• In the event of Munster Rugby playing Scarlets in the Guinness PRO12 Final, Scarlets will get to wear their red playing strip and Munster Rugby will be in their navy.
• For any other Final combination, teams can wear their preferred playing strip.
