Squad Update Pre-Edinburgh

Gerbrandt Grobler prepares for training.

The Munster squad returned to training at the High Performance Centre in Limerick today ahead of the rearranged Guinness PRO14 clash against Edinburgh in Murrayfield on Friday night (7.35pm, live on TG4 & BBC Alba).

Munster A are also in action this week as they face Ulster A in Banbridge on Thursday at 3pm ahead of their British and Irish Cup quarter-final against Leinster A in Donnybrook on Friday, March 30.

Four Munster men started Ireland’s 28-8 victory over Scotland at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday as Joe Schmidt’s side secured the 6 Nations title with a game to spare.

Peter O’Mahony, Conor Murray, CJ Stander and Keith Earls each made big contributions to the win with Ireland travelling to Twickenham next weekend hoping to secure the Grand Slam.

On the injury front, Chris Farrell has undergone surgery and is in the recovery phase of his rehabilitation after sustaining an ACL injury last month. The centre will miss the remainder of the season.

Ronan O’Mahony is progressing well from a shoulder injury and is expected to take part in full training this week.

Niall Scannell is continuing his return from a rib injury and will be monitored as the week progresses.

Andrew Conway is continuing to rehab a knee injury sustained on Ireland duty.

Continuing to rehab: Chris Cloete (arm), Jaco Taute (knee).

On the Academy front, Jack O’Sullivan was awarded Man of the Match for the second consecutive game and scored two tries for the Ireland U20s in their 6 Nations win over Scotland.

With a reduced fixture list last weekend, only four Academy players were in All Ireland League action.

Alex McHenry started in the centre for Cork Constitution as they defeated Lansdowne 25-13 at Temple Hill in Division 1A.

Liam Coombes and Sean O’Connor both started for Garryowen as they lost 29-13 at home to Terenure.

Jack Power scored a try in Clontarf’s 33-7 win over Buccaneers.
