6 Nations Trophy Visits Killarney

Over 160 5th and 6th class national school students from the Killarney area recently came together for a Munster Rugby contact skills day in conjunction with the 2014 Munster Rugby summer camp programme.

All of the students have been working on their tag and tip rugby at Killarney RFC under the guidance of the Club’s Community Rugby Officer Denis Corridan and this was the first opportunity for some of the players to experience the full contact game.

Players worked on falling in the tackle, the tackle and ball presentation. The players were then put into teams and had the chance to try out their new skills in modified matches.

As an added bonus the players also got a chance to get their photo taken with the 6 Nations Trophy which has recently been touring clubs and schools throughout the province.

Munster Rugby would like to thank the Killarney Community College for the use of their facilities and all the school pupils and their teachers who supported this event.
