86 Attend Concussion Awareness Workshop
18th November 2014 By Munster Rugby
The Munster Rugby Development Department, in conjunction with the IRFU, hosted the first Concussion Awareness Workshop of the season in Presentation Brothers College, Cork last night.
The Workshops have been running since last year with modules that relate to Concussion Recognition Management and Return to Play protocols followed by a Question and Answer session.
An impressive turnout of 86 were in attendance last night including coaches, parents, members of St. John's Ambulance and medical practitioners. The content has been designed to educate coaches, parents, players and referees on the dangers of concussion and how to recognise it.
Dr. Garrett Coughlan, the IRFU's Medical Co-ordinator, will host all of the workshops with the next workshop to take place in The Malton Hotel, Killarney in less than two weeks.
All Club and School coaches and officials are encouraged to attend the workshops which are free of charge. Please note places are limited and will be filled on a first come first served basis.
There will be three further Concussion Awareness Workshops in December in Killarney, Bandon and Ennis.
The workshops will continue into the new year in Clanwilliam and Limerick IT with a timetable below. Please contact janeburns@munsterrugby.ie to register your place at a workshop.
