All Ireland League Update

There is no change at the top of Division 1A of the All Ireland League as Cork Constitution, Garryowen and Young Munster maintain their challenge for a top four finish.
Leaders Cork Constitution travelled to bottom side Ballynahinch and emerged 16-5 winners. A try from Brian Hayes and a conversion and penalty from Gerry Hurley gave the visitors a 10-0 interval lead. Hurley added two second half penalties to secure the points.
Second placed Garryowen defeated Terenure College 8-5 thanks to a late drop goal from Jamie Heuston. Terenure led 5-0 at half time with a try by Robbie Smyth after ten minutes.
Garryowen leveled with a try by Alex Wotton before Heuston’s late kick decided the outcome.
Young Munster defeated Dublin University 21-9 with tries from Alan Kennedy, Sean Rigney and Luke Fitzgerald. Evan Cusack converted all three tries.
U.C.C put up a great performance away to UCD but lost out 15-12. Rory Suttor and Murray Linn scored tries for College and James Taylor kicked a penalty.
In Division 1B Highfield extended their lead at the top of the able to nine points after their 15-10 away win at City of Armagh. Sam Burns scored two tries for the ‘Field and Shane O’Riordan kicked a penalty and a conversion.
Shannon defeated second placed Old Wesley 17-10 to keep their play-off place alive. Nathan Randles scored a try for Shannon which Jake Flannery converted. They were also awarded a penalty try and Ben Daly kicked a penalty.
Cashel have moved up to second place in Division 2A after their 39-26 win over bottom side Nenagh Ormond. Aidan McDonald, James Kendrick, Niall Fitzgerald, Conor Cashman and James Ryan scored tries for Cashel who were also awarded a penalty try. McDonald kicked a penalty and two conversions. Nenagh replied with tries from Conor O’Brien, Josh Rowland and John Hayes. O’Brien kicked three penalties and a conversion.
Old Crescent dropped out of the play-off places after losing 7-0 away to Ballymena.
UL Bohemian lost at home to leaders M.U. Barnhall 25-12. Darragh O’Grady and Jamie Shanahan scored tries for the Limerick side and Harry Byrne converted one.
Dolphin travelled to Buccaneers but the match was called off due to an unplayable pitch.
Only two games went ahead in Division 2C. Sunday’s Well defeated Bruff 8-3 in a hard fought contest at Irish Independent Park. Jonathan Gardiner gave the ‘Well a 5-0 lead after five minutes. Andrew O’Byrne brought Bruff into the game with a penalty but despite dominating territorially they were unable to add to their total. A late penalty by Brian Derham ensured the ‘Well took the spoils.
The Clonmel v Midleton game was postponed.
