Abbeyfeale Women Claim Victory

Abbeyfeale RFC recently claimed the Munster Ladies Pool ‘B’ Development League title against Bandon at The Grove in an exciting encounter in front of a large crowd.

The opening score came from Abbeyfeale’s Catriona Davis from a penalty awarded right in front of the post.

Followed shortly came two tries from Irene Dillane and Catriona Davis bringing the lead to 13-0 at the half time mark.

The second half saw Bandon getting into the game and hitting Abbeyfeale with some hard tackles but were unable to break their line.

Abbeyfeale’s third try came as a result of good work from their pack with possession eventually making its way to winger Niamh Harnett who touched down in the right corner.

Scrum-half Anna McMahon extended the lead by claiming the home side’s fourth try.

Bandon’s No. 10 intercepted an Abbeyfeale pass giving them a late try under the post converted successfully bringing the final score 23 to 7.

Jim Gibson, Chairperson of the Munster Rugby Women’s Committee made the presentation of medals afterwards and congratulated both teams for a fantastic game of rugby.
