It was another busy weekend of age-grade Interprovincial action as the Munster U18 Girls, U18 Boys Clubs and U19 Men were all in action against their provincial counterparts.

It was a successful weekend of action as both our U18 Boys Clubs and U19s beat Connacht in Virgin Media Park while our U18 girls were narrowly beaten by Ulster.

The Munster U18 Girls got things underway this weekend as they took on Ulster in Virgin Media Park. It was a tight contest for the girls but Ulster unfortunately came out trumps.

Munster took the lead just two minutes in with a try from winger Grace Kingston.

But Ulster retaliated scoring two tries of their own before the break.

Ulster extended their lead to 7-17 in the second half before Munster’s Tuathla Ryan crashed over bringing the final score to 12-17.

The Munster U18 Boys Clubs kicked off the Sunday afternoon double-header action as they took on Connacht also in Virgin Media Park.

Munster got scores on the board early on with a penalty in the third minute from the boot of Ryan O’Connor.

But it was Connacht that crossed the whitewash first as they touched down in the corner in the 12th minute.

Munster fought back and scored their first try of the game in the 19th minute when a maul was sent barreling over. Ryan O’Connor added the extras.

Munster were in for a second time just before the half time whistle as scrum-half James Brugger ran in under the posts. Sundays Well’s Ryan O’Connor sent the conversion straight through the posts.

At half time Munster had built up a comfortable lead of 17-7.

Munster were once again first to get scoring under way in the second as James Brugger sniped around the corner of a ruck and touched down. Out-half Daniel Coughlan added the conversion.

But Connacht didn’t back down and score three tries of their own in the space of 15 minutes bringing the sides level with just five minutes left on the clock.

Munster’s saving grace came in the form of a penalty in the 68th minute which Kinsale’s Rory Forde sent sailing through the uprights.

Munster led the way 27-24 at full time, securing them their first win of this years Interprovincial Campaign.

The second match of the afternoon got underway at 3.30pm as the Munster U19 Men also took on Connacht.

Munster were once again first to put scores on the board in the 10th minute as Christian Foley crashed over. Charlie O’Shea added the extras.

Connacht bit back shortly afterwards and secured themselves their first points with a penalty from the boot of Calum Elwood.

But Munster did not let this phase them as they scored a further two tries from Harry Murphy and Charlie O’Shea.

This put Munster 21-3 ahead running into the sheds at half time.

Munster got scoring underway once again early on in the second half after a strong maul allowed hooker Darragh Prenter touch down. Charlie O’Shea added the extras.

A dive from CBC’s Alex O’Connell added another five points to Munster’s tally in the 46th minute with the extra two coming from the boot of Charlie O’Shea.

Munster were in again in the 67th minute with a second converted try from out-half Charlie O’Shea.

Connacht eventually crossed the line for their first try of the afternoon in the 70th minute.

At the final whistle Munster earned their first win of the U19 Interprovincial series with a strong 42-10 win.
