AIL Munster Clubs Preview

It is the final weekend of All Ireland League action before the Christmas break with a full programme of games.

The three Munster sides in Division 1A of the Ulster Bank League take on Dublin opposition.

The game of the day sees Young Munster and Lansdowne going head to head in a top of the table clash at the Aviva Stadium. The Limerick side are two points behind Lansdowne in second place following their narrow defeat by Garryowen at Tom Clifford Park last time out.

Garryowen have received a welcome boost following their recent Limerick derby win over Young Munster and they should have little difficulty in seeing off the challenge of bottom side Terenure College at Dooradoyle.

Cork Constitution are third following their away win over Dublin University and they will be looking to grind out a maximum point home win over UCD, who are hovering above the drop zone.

In Division 1B, second place UL Bohemian will be looking to maintain their challenge for promotion as they take on UCC, who are seventh, at Thomond Park.

Dolphin, who have climbed out of the drop zone following their recent victory over UCC at the Mardyke, will be aiming to climb further up the table as they lock horns with Ballynahinch at Irish Independent Park.

Shannon, who are propping up the table, travel to Galway to take on Galwegians in a basement clash at Crowley Park.

Highfield face a tough assignment in Division 2A as they welcome new leaders Banbridge to Woodleigh Park.

Nenagh Ormond host fifth-placed Blackrock College as they look to get back to winning ways following their recent home defeat to Sunday’s Well.

Cashel, who are second from bottom, travel to Belfast to take on second-placed Queen’s University and Sunday’s Well, who knocked Nenagh Ormond off the top last time out, are away to Corinthians.

Old Crescent, who claimed maximum points from their local derby victory over Thomond in Division 2B last week thanks to two late tries from Val McDermott, make the long trip to County Tyrone to take on Dungannon in a mid-table clash.

Thomond, who are second from bottom and battling against a second successive relegation, host second-placed Greystones at Liam Fitzgerald Park.

In Division 2C, Bruff, who have climbed up to seventh, face a tough assignment as they travel to Magherafelt to take on leaders Rainey Old Boys.

Sixth-placed Midleton will have their work cut out as they travel to the Faithful County to take on Tullamore and Kanturk are at home to Boyne in a basement clash.
