All Ireland Junior Cup Draw Is Made

6th October 2010 By Munster Rugby

All four Munster sides were given away games in the opening round which is scheduled for Saturday 30th October.

Four of the previous five winners are all now playing in the All Ireland League. No Munster side has yet won the competition.

Tralee making their first appearance have been handed the toughest draw of all away to last year’s beaten finalists City of Armagh.

Cashel play Monivea the side that beat them 6-0 in last season’s quarter final.

Clonmel are away to Skerries and will hope to do better than last season when they lost at home to Sligo 11-0.

Crosshaven travel to Dundalk and will face a difficult test against the Leinster side.

The draw for the opening rounds were made at the Aviva Stadium by IRFU President, Caleb Powell and Chairman of the Domestic Game Committee, Stephen Hilditch.

The All Ireland Junior Cup has proved extremely popular with clubs and supporters, attracting big crowds to all the games and fostering ties between Junior clubs in all four provinces.

There are four clubs from each province with the teams from Connacht, Leinster and Ulster qualifying through their position in last season's qualifying league while the Munster clubs are drawn from the four semi finalists in this season's Junior Clubs Challenge Cup.

In the first round no teams from the same province can be drawn against each other.
