All Ireland League Round Up

A disappointing day for all five Munster clubs in Division 1A of the All Ireland League.
Leaders Cork Constitution came unstuck at the Aviva Stadium as they went down to holders Lansdowne 35-27. It was 25-8 to the home side at half time. Brian Hayes, Luke Cahill, Niall Kenneally and Jack Costigan scored tries for Con’ and Aidan Moynihan kicked two conversions and a penalty.
A last minute converted try denied Shannon victory at the back pitch in Thomond Park as they lost 22-7 to Clontarf. Jake Flannery gave a man of the match performance for Shannon scoring a try and four penalties.
Garryowen lost at home to U.C.D 31-19. Liam Cronin, Liam Coombes and Diarmuid Barron scored tries for the Light Blues and Peadar Collins kicked a conversion.
Young Munster were defeated by Dublin University at College Park 37-26. Darragh O’Neill scored two tries for the Cookies and Mark O’Mara one/ Clayton Stewart added a conversion and three penalties.
A penalty from James Thornton three minutes from time earned Terenure College an 18-17 win over U.C.C. at the Mardyke. Peter Seymour, Cian Bohane and Adam O’Connor scored tries for College and John Poland kicked a conversion.
Cashel moved up to second place in Division 2A on points difference ahead of Highfield after their 43-0 win against Galwegians at Crowley Park. Josh Pickering scored two tries for Cashel and Jonty Rae, Richard Kingston, Michael Casey, Darragh Lyons and James Newton scored one apiece. Rae kicked three conversions and Newton one.
Highfield won the Cork derby defeating Dolphin 29-12 at Woodleigh Park. The sides were level 12-12 at half time but a strong second half showing saw the home side run out comfortable winners. Paul Stack scored two tries for Highfield and Miah Cronin, Shane O’Riordan and Luke Kingston got the other tries. O’Riordan kicked two conversions and Daryl Foley replied with four penalties for Dolphin.
U.L. Bohemian had a 33-7 win over Blackrock College at Stradbrook. Adrian Enright scored two tries for the Limerick side and Harry Fleming, James Ryan and Darragh O’Grady also scored tries. Robbie Bourke kicked three conversions and Colin Ryan one.
Old Crescent went down to leaders Navan 20-17 at Rosbrien. Nahuati Dovalo and Brian Tuohy scored tries for Crescent and they were also awarded a penalty try.
A last minute try earned Nenagh Ormond a 32-31 home win over Queen’s University.
Patrick Scully, Willie Coffey and Johnny Hayes scored tries for Nenagh who were also awarded a penalty try. Alex Ropeti kicked two conversions and two penalties.
Sunday’s Well moved up to third place in Division 2B after their 20-8 home win over Dungannon. Sean Kingston James Kiernan and Paddy Hegarty scored tries for the Well and Eoin Geary kicked a penalty and a conversion.
Midleton made it four bonus point wins from four to extend their lead at the top of Division 2C after their 29-7 away win against Omagh Academicals. Benji Cottle, Daniel Murray, Jon Gardiner and Rob Carey scored tries for Midleton and Stuart Lee kicked three conversions and a penalty.
Bruff maintained their Challenge with a 26-18 victory over undefeated Ballina. Liam Treacy scored two tries for Bruff and Rom O’Dwyer and Jack O’Grady got one each. Kevin McManus kicked three conversions.
Malahide collected their first win of the campaign defeating Thomond 24-22. Evan Cusack got three tries and a conversion for the Limerick side and Korey Brown also scored a try.
