All Ireland League Round Up

There were wins for Cork Constitution, Shannon, Cashel and Highfield in the big Munster derbies in the All Ireland League over the weekend.
Cork Constitution bounced back from their defeat by Lansdowne last week to beat Garryowen 27-3 at Temple Hill to hold on to second place in Division 1A a point behind leaders Clontarf. Con’ led 13 -3 at half time and had tries from JJ O’Neill, Brian Scott and Rob Jermyn. Aidan Moynihan kicked two conversions and three penalties. Peadar Collins replied with a penalty for Garryowen.
Shannon continued their good run with 31-20 victory over U.C.C. on the back pitch at Thomond Park. Lee Nicholas, Conor Fitzgerald, Luke Clohessy and Jack Stafford scored tries for Shannon and Fitzgerald kicked converted all four tries and also added a penalty College replied with two tries from John Poland and one by John Hodnett. James Taylor converted one and also added a penalty.
Injury hit Young Munster lost at home to Lansdowne 23-12. Conor Hayes and Darragh O’Neill scored tries for the home side and Hayes kicked a conversion.
There was no change in Division 2A as all the top three sides won with a bonus point.
Highfield moved ahead of Cashel into second place on points difference after their 61-14 win over Old Crescent at Rosbrien. The visitors ran in nine tries with Dan Healy and Paul Stack scoring two each. Luke Kingston, Dan O’Sullivan, Eddie Earle, Cathal Gallagher and Mick Dillane got one apiece. Shane O’Riordan converted seven of the tries and Chris Bannon one. Ciaran Cusack and Cathal Monaghan replied with tries for Crescent and Ronan McKenna converted both.
Cashel won the Tipperary derby to maintain their challenge in Division 2A with a 30-7 home win over Nenagh Ormond. James Ryan, Richard Kingston, Niall Fitzgerald and Tommy Anglim scored tries for Cashel. Jonty Rae kicked two penalties and a conversion and Jason Newton also added a conversion. Nicky Irwin replied with a try for Nenagh and Alex Ropeti converted.
Dolphin moved out of the relegation zone with a 22-17 home win over Galwegians in their bottom of the table clash. Dalton O’Shaughnessy, Will Hanly and Dan Horgan scored tries for Dolphin and Daryl Foley kicked two conversions and a penalty.
MU Barnhall made it five bonus point wins out of five when they defeated Sunday’s Well 27-7 in Division 2B at Parsonstown. James Kiernan scored the Well’s try and Michael Boland converted.
High Flying Midleton were surprisingly beaten 14-6 at home to Malahide in Division 2C. Stuart Lee kicked two penalties for the East Cork side.
Bruff continued their good run with a 20-5 home win over Seapoint to move into third place two points behind leaders Midleton. Taylor Jones scored two tries for Bruff and John Clery got one. Kevin McManus added a conversion and a penalty.
Bottom side Tullamore defeated Thomond 35-20 at the Co. Offaly venue. Evan Cusack scored two tries for Thomond and Richie Ryan won. Cusack added a conversion and a penalty.
