Cork Constitution lost top their position in Division 1A of the All Ireland League after losing at home to neighbours Dolphin 19-9.

Despite having to field a depleted side due to injuries and call ups to the Munster side for the visit of Australia, this was a bitter blow for Cork Constitution following on their Cup defeat last week away to Bruff.
Richard Lane put the home side ahead with a penalty after three minutes but two penalties by Barry Keeshan and a drop goal in first half injury time had Dolphin ahead. Lane kicked his second penalty on the stroke of half time to leave it 9-6.
Keeshan and Lane exchanged penalties mid way through the second half and eight minutes from time Eric Moloney got in for a try for Dolphin which Keeshan converted.

Shannon remain at the foot of the table after this defeat at Anglesea Road which saw the Dubliners record their first win over the Limerick side.
Shannon got off to a great start with a try from David Quinlan which Tadgh Bennett converted. Leo Auva’a, Eddie Devitt and Dave Mongon scored tries for the home side and Andy Dunne kicked a penalty for an 18-7 interval lead.
Bennett closed the gap to six points with two penalties after the break Auva’a struck back with his second try and Bennett made it 23-16 with his third penalty.
Belvo’ finished in style with Danny Riordan scoring two tries in the final ten minutes and Conan Keane kicked a conversion and penalty.

Young Munster 14, Blackrock College 15.
Five penalties from Blackrock out half Ian Madigan was enough to secure the points for the visitors at Tom Clifford Park.
The sides were level 3-3 at the break with Alan Kingsley kicking a penalty for the home side and Madigan replying for Blackrock.
With the visitors reduced to fourteen after Niall Morris was sin binned, the home side had a try from Darragh O’Neill and a second Kingsley penalty. Four penalties from Madigan to a third by Kingsley saw the visitors edge this by a single point.

Garryowen remain in second last place after this defeat at Templeville Road. Declan Cusack kicked a penalty in each half as the visitors trailed 23-3 at the break.

Galwegians 11, Bruff 22
Bruff followed up on their Cup victory over Cork Constitution last week with a third successive league win at Crowley Park in Division 1B.
The home side took an early lead with a try from Brian McClearn but three penalties by Brian Cahill had the visitors 9-8 ahead at half time.
A try by Cathal O’Regan and a conversion and two further penalties by Cahill meant Bruff returned home with the points.

U.L. Bohemian promotion hopes received another set back as they lost at home to leaders
It was 9-0 at the interval in favour of the visitors with two penalties by Adam Kennedy and a drop goal by Jack Carty had the visitors ahead.
Replacement hooker Martin Redden scored Buccaneers opening try and Brian Tuohy went in for the second.
Adam Kennedy converted both and also kicked two penalties.
Darragh Frawley replied with a penalty for the home side.

Clontarf 27, U.C.C. 8
Another defeat on the road for U.C.C. as they lost at Castle Avenue 27-8.
The result was a bit harsh on the Cork students who deserved at least a bonus point for their efforts.
Andrew Burke opened the scoring for College with a penalty but the home side led 12-3 at the break.
Clontarf extended their advantage wit a try by former College player Barry O’Mahony and a penalty by Noel Reid.
This put the hosts 17 points in front but the students showed excellent character and struck back almost immediately. A great running move with plenty of well timed passes allowed Brian Derham touch down in the corner.
The visitors continued to press hard in a bid to get back into the game and at least claim a bonus point but were struck a cruel blow when a last minute interception allowed Clontarf winger Michael Keating race seventy-five metres to touch down. Instead of a bonus point for the Cork team, Clontarf secured a four try bonus that puts them at the top of Division 1B.

Midleton’s promotion hopes received a set back at the Towns Park as they lost at home to second placed U.C.D.

The Dublin side sealed victory with a try from Danny Kenny in the final minute to deny Midleton a losing bonus point.

Clonakilty are still in search of their firat points after suffering another rdefeat at home to Ballymena.
The Ulster side led 22-3 at half time with Mike O’Hea scoring a try for the West Cork side and Denis McCarthy kicking a conversion and three penalties.

Sunday’s Well 9, City of Derry 14.
Sunday’s Well lost valuable ground in the promotion race in Division Three at Musgrave Park when two late converted tries denied them victory.
Two penalties by Danny O’Shea had the home side 6-0 ahead at the break and he made it 9-0 with his third kick.
Late tries by John Caithness and Wilie McCleary both converted by Richard peoples earned the Ulster side victory.
