All Ireland League Round Up

With just three round of games remaining in the All Ireland League, Cork Constitution have opened up a twelve point gap at the top of Division 1A following their 49-17 home win over defending champions Lansdowne.
The Temple Hill side scored seven tries all converted by Aidan Moynihan. Jason Higgins, Niall Kenneally, Greg Higgins, Liam O’Connell, Brian Hayes, Kevin Sheahan and Alex McHenry were Con’s try scorers.
Garryowen kept up their hopes of a top four finish with a 24-14 away win at UCD. Rob Guerin and Andy Keating scored tries for Garryowen and they were also awarded a penalty try. Peadar Collins kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Young Munster moved out of the relegation zone after their 24-18 bonus point home win against Dublin University. Jack Lyons, Conor Mitchell, Keynan Knox and Conor Philips scored tries for Young Munster and Shane Airey kicked two conversions.
U.C.C. lost away to bottom side Terenure College 39-29 but they remain above Shannon on points’ difference. Cian Bohane scored two tries for College and Michael Clune and, Matt Bowen got one each. James Taylor converted three of the tries and also added a penalty.
Shannon lost 45-14 away to Clontarf a result that sees the Limerick side deep in the relegation battle. Luke Moylan and Ben Daly scored first half tries for Shannon and Daly and Jack Stafford converted one each.
With Division 2A leader’s Highfield‘s game with Dolphin put back to next Friday night, second place Cashel kept up the pressure on the leaders with a 50-19 home win over bottom side Galwegians. James Ryan and Jonty Rae each scored two tries and Tommy Anglim, Richard Kingston and Mike Casey got one each. They were also awarded a penalty try and Rae kicked four conversions.
U.L. Bohemian kept their promotion hopes alive with a 30-18 bonus point home win over Blackrock College. Mervin O’Connor scored two tries for the Limerick side and Mike Mullally and Robbie Bourke each scored a try. Bourke kicked two conversions and Mullally two penalties.
Old Crescent got back to winning ways with a 17-14 away win at Navan. Val McDermott scored two tries for Crescent and Ronan McKenna converted both. Larry Hanly kicked a late penalty to win the game for the Limerick side.
Nenagh Ormond lost away to Queens University 41-22 but did manage to pick up a valuable bonus point. Kevin O’Flaherty scored two tries for Nenagh and Kevin O’Gorman and Gerard O’Gorman got a try each with Ger O’Gorman kicking one conversion.
Sunday’s Well remain rooted at the bottom of Division 2B following their 20-17 away defeat at Dungannon. Ryan Linehan and Cyprian Jouve scored tries for the ‘Well and Brian Derham converted both and also added a penalty.
Midleton defeated fourth placed Omagh Academicals 35-12 to hold on to second place in Division 2C. Michael Cronin, Rob Mitchell, Jon Gardiner, Josh Deady and Rob Carey scored tries for Midleton and Stuart Lee converted all five.
Bruff lost away to leaders Ballina 37020 but remain in second place five points behind Midleton, Taylor Jones, Kevin McManus and Cian Tierney scored tries for Bruff and Dave O’Grady kicked a penalty and a conversion.
Thomond’s days of playing Senior rugby could be coming to an end after their 33-22 home defeat by Malahide. Evan Cusack Ritchie Ryan and Mike Madden scored tries for Thomond and Cusack kicked two conversions and a penalty.
