A full round of games was played in the All Ireland League, with Cork Constitution taking a big step towards a top-four finish in Division 1A, as the three Limerick sides all suffer defeat in this Division.

At Temple Hill, Cork Constitution moved ahead of Dublin University with a 32-27 victory. The home side led 27-17 at the interval and had tries from Daniel Jurley, Cathal O’Flaherty, Aidan Moynihan, George Coomber and Bill Scannell. Moynihan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Young Munster’s lost 21-11 away to leaders Terenure College. This game also doubled up as a Bateman Cup semi-final tie. Dan Walsh scored a try for the Limerick side, and Evan Cusack kicked two conversions.

Shannon slipped into the relegation zone after their 34-24 by Lansdowne at Coonagh. The home side were awarded a penalty try, and Colm Heffernan and Lukr Rigney scored tries. John O’Sullivan converted both tries and also added a penalty.

Garryowen remain at the foot of the table after 19-13 home defeat by Clontarf. Jamie Shannahan and Oli Morris scored tries for Garryowen, and Tony Butler kicked a penalty.

In Division 1B, Highfield did the double over St. Mary’s College with a 20-14 victory. A try by Amhlaoibh Porter gave Highfield a 5-0 interval lead. Mary’s hit back with two converted tries in the opening minutes of the second half but a strong finish from Highfield which yielded a push over try from their pack which was credited to Travis Coomey and another by Luke Kingston earned them victory. James Taylor added a conversion and a penalty.

UCC suffered their sixth successive defeat when they were defeated away to Old Belvedere 52-12, and are now facing a relegation battle. Danny Sheahan and Sean Edogbo scored tries for the Students and Johnny Murphy kicked a conversion.

Cashel defeated second-placed Blackrock College 14-8 at Stradbrook In Division 2A to keep their challenge for a playoff place alive. A try from Conor Cashman three minutes from time converted by Ryan O’Sullivan earned the Tipperary side the points. Alfredo Bergada scored their other try in the opening half and O’Sullivan converted.

Nenagh Ormond kept their challenge alive with a share of the spoils at Navan when they played out a 10-10 draw. Kevin O’Flaherty scored a try for Nenagh, and Conor McMahon added a conversion and a penalty.

A last-minute penalty from Ronan McKenna earned Old Crescent an 18-17 victory at home to Dolphin.

The Limerick side were awarded a penalty try and Jack O’Mahony also added a try, with McKenna also adding a penalty. Matt Barry replied with a try Dolphin and Tomas Quinlan kicked four penalties.

UL Bohemian picked up a four try bonus point in their 45-29 away defeat by MU Barnhall.

Both Cork sides suffered defeat in the two Munster derbies in Division 2C. Bruff defeated Midleton 22-13 at Kilballyowen Park. Jack O’grady, Eamonn Costello, and Andrew O’Byrne scored tries for Bruff. Paul Collins converted two of the tries and also added a penalty. Richard Daly replied with a try for Midleton and Stuart Lee converted and added two penalties.

Clonmel defeated Sunday’s Well 27-19 at Musgrave Park that leaves the home side propping up the table. Dan Hosek, Niall Campion and Alex Sheehan scored tries for Clonmel. Dylan Cadogan converted all three  tries and also added two penalties.
