All Ireland League Roundup

Shannon were the only Munster side to win in Division 1A of the All Ireland League as UL Bohemian caused a big shock in Division 2A defeating league leaders Queens University.

Despite a bonus point win on the back pitch at Thomond Park, Shannon still remain in the relegation zone despite their 43-17 win over Dublin University. Jordan Prenderville scored two tries for Shannon, Lee Nicholas, Luke Rigney, Dan Hurley and Daniel Okeke were their other try scorers. They were also awarded a penalty try and John O’Sullivan kicked three conversions.

Both Cork Constitution and Young muster remain in 3rd and 4th positions despite defeats in Dublin.

Young Munster lost 27-24 to Clontarf at Castle Avenue, a win that puts Clontarf back on top of the table. Stephen Lyons, Shay McCarthy, Jack Lyons, and Conor Hayes scored tries for Young Munster and Evan Cusack kicked two conversions.

Cork Constitution were defeated 25-19 by Lansdowne. George Coomber and James Murphy scored tries for Constitution. They were also awarded a penalty try, and Aidan Moynihan kicked one conversion.

Garryowen still remain adrift at the foot of the table after their 52-12 away defeat by UCD. Neil Cronin and Mark Donnelly scored tries for Garryowen and Tony Butler kicked a conversion.

Both Cork sides in Division 1B  lost.

Highfield were defeated 22-7 by Old Belvedere at Ollie Campbell Park, Cian Bohane scored Highfield’s try and James Taylor converted.

UCC lost at home to leaders Buccaneers 19-10. Aiden Brien scored College’s try, and Daniel Squires kicked a conversion and a penalty.

UL Bohemian still remain bottom of Division 2A after their 31-19 home win over leaders Queen’s University but are now level on points with Dolphin.

Cashel and Dolphin shared the spoils after a 10-10 draw at the Spafield. James Ryan and Cormac O’Donnell scored tries for Cashel.

Nenagh Ormond moved above Cashel into fourth place after their 28-7 bonus point home win over Old Crescent. John Hayes (2), David Gleson, and John O’Flaherty were the Nenagh try scorers. Conor McMahon kicked three conversions, and Josh Rowland one. Jack O’Mahony replied with a try for Old Crescent and Ronan McKenna converted.

Division 2C leaders Instonians defeated Bruff 33-19 at Kilballyowen park to record their 13th successive bonus point win.

Clonmel boosted their chances of a play-off place with a 34-12 home win over Ballina. Luke Hogan, Tony Cantwell, Rob Wynne, Brian O’Dea, and Mattie O’Toole all scored tries for Clonmel. Dylan Cadogan kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Midleton eased their relegation worries with a 36-29 home win over Bangor. Cillian Lynch scored two tries for the East Cork side, and Kyle Read, Ritchie Daly, and Adam Malone got one each. Stuart Lee kicked three conversions and two penalties.

Sunday’s Well remain rooted to the bottom of the table after their 27-11 defeat at Musgrave Park. The Well led 8-3 at halftime with a try from John Costello and a penalty by Josh Featherstone. Denis Hurley added a penalty after the break.
