All Ireland League Roundup

It was a mixed day for the Munster clubs in the All-Ireland League play-offs, with Shannon being relegated from the topflight and Cashel and Bruff failed in their promotion attempts.
Cork Constitution will face holders Terenure College in the Division 1A Final at the Aviva Stadium on Sunday 28th April at 4pm after their 40-34 win over Clontarf in the semi-final at Temple Hill. The home side dominated the opening half and led 27-17 at half time but the result was always in doubt right up to the final whistle. John Forde, Ronan O’Sullivan, Matthew Bowen and Niall Kenneally scored tries for Con’. James Taylor kicked four conversions and three penalties. Rob Hedderman also added a penalty.
Garryowen will host Old Belvedere in the Division 1A Promotion Final after their 32-21 win over Old Wesley at Energia Park. Max Clein scored two of Garryowen’s five tries, and Gordon Wood, Oran McNulty, and Jack Delaney were their other try scorers. Kelvin Langan kicked two conversions and Jack Oliver added a penalty.
In the other semi-final Shannon lost on the back pitch in Thomond Park 46-8 to Old Belvedere. Dan Hurley scored Shannon’s try and Mike Cooke kicked a penalty.
A last minute penalty denied Cashel victory in their Division 1B promotion play-off in Cashel as they lost 25-23 to M.U. Barnhall. James Ryan and Jack Evenden scored tries for Cashel. Ben Twomey converted both tries and also added three penalties.
U.L. Bohemian will face Galway Corinthians in the Division 2A Promotion/Relegation final at Annacotty as they snatched a late win at home to Sligo 13-12 in the semi-final with a try from Ihechi Oji, which Harry Byrne converted. Byrne kicked two penalties to keep UL Bohs in the contest.
Dolphin defeated Enniscorthy 42-20 at Virgin Media Park in their Division 2B Promotion/Relegation Semi-Final. The Wexford side made a great start to lead 20-7 midway through the opening half. Cameron O’Shaughnessy (2), Craig O’Connell, Sam Boyle and Richie Heaslip were Dolphin’s try scorers. They were also awarded a penalty try and Daryl Foley kicked five conversions.
A strong second half saw Galwegians defeat Bruff 40-17 in the other semi-final. Ethan Anderson and Andrew O’Byrne scored tries for Bruff. Paul Collins converted both and also added a penalty.
