U.C.C. were the only Division 1 Munster side to win in the fourth round of games in the Men’s All Ireland League as they outclassed Shannon in their Munster derby tie at the Mardyke.

Late scores saw both Young Munster and Garryowen lose In Division 1A. Young Munster lost at home to Ballynahinch 26-25. Munster trailed 14-10 at half time and looked on course to take the spoils with an impressive second half performance. Tony Butler, Adam McBurney and Stephen McLoughlin scored tries for the Limerick side and Julian Leszczynski kicked two conversions and two penalties.

A late rally by St. Mary’s College saw them snatch a 25-22 win against Garryowen at Templeville Road. Jack Daly, Colm Quilligan and Gordon Wood scored tries for Garryowen, Dylan Hicks kicked a conversion, and a penalty and Kelvin Langan also added a conversion.

Despite taking an early lead with a penalty by James Taylor, Cork Constitution had to play second fiddle to Lansdowne on the back pitch in the Aviva stadium as the Dublin side ran out 27-10 winners. Eoghan Smyth scored Con’s try which Taylor converted.

U.C.C. have moved into second place in Division 1B, two points behind leaders Old Belvedere, after their 42-7 drubbing of Shannon at the Mardyke. The students who led 14-0 at half time had two tries from Adam Wrona,  and one each by Sam O’Sullivan, Rory Shaughnessy, David Cogan, and Sean Condon. Daniel Squires converted all six tries. Evin Crowe replied with a try for Shannon, which John O’Sullivan converted.

A last minute penalty ended Nenagh Ormond’s unbeaten run in Division 1B, after they lost at home to leaders Old Belvedere 32-31. William Coffey, Ben Pope and Kevin O’Flaherty scored tries for Nenagh, who were also awarded a penalty try. Conor McMahon kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Highfield lost away to Blackrock College 28-24, a result that sees them in eight position and just a point ahead of bottom side Queens University. Eoin Dorgan, Elliot Smith, and Sean Glynn scored tries for Highfield. Shane O’Riordan converted all three tries and also added a penalty.

Tom Tobin was Cashel’s hero in their 29-24 home win against Ballymena, as he scored three tries in a result that sees them level on points with leaders Galway Corinthians in Division 2A, but third on points difference. Jamie Ryan was Cashel’s other try scorer and Ben Twomey kicked three conversions and a penalty.

Old Crescent lost 43-21 away to the leaders Galway Corinthians. Timmy Duggan, John Lyons and Jamie Duggan were the Crescent try scorers and Ronan McKenna converted all three.

U.L. Bohemian slipped out of the promotion places in Division 2B after they lost 44-12 away to Clogher Valley. Matty Sheahan and Kilian Dineen were the Bohs try scorers and Oisin Fagan added a conversion.

Midleton have moved top in Division 2B level on points with Belfast Harlequins, after a late try by Jack Colbert earned them a 27-24 away win at Enniscorthy. Skipper Idris Rqibi, Ryan Lehane and Sam Tarleton were Midleton’s other try scorers. Colbert kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Dolphin kept up their promotion challenge with a 40-19 win over Tullamore at Virgin Media Park. Craig O’Connell scored three of Dolphin’s six tries, with Darragh Buckley, Philip Dowling and James Vaughan also crossing the white wash. Jordan Soli converted five of the tries.

Clonmel snatched a dramatic 29-27 win over Monkstown thanks to an eight minute added time penalty form Josef O’Connor, a result that sees them in fifth place. Michael Connellan, Albert Fronek were Clonmel’s try scorers. O’Conor kicked two conversions and four penalties, with Dylan Cadogan adding a drop goal.

Bruff are now in ninth place after their 66-0 away defeat at Ballyclare.

In the Women’s AIL U.L. Bohemian maintained their challenge with a 31-5 away win at Old Belvedere. Chisom Ugwueru scored two of Boh’s five tries with Chloe Pearse, Muirne Wall, and Éabha Nic Dhonnacha getting the others. Kate Flannery kicked two conversions and Nic Dhonnacha one.

Ballincollig moved up to fourth place after their 26-10 away bonus point win at Tullow. Niamh Crotty scored three tries for the visitors and Michelle O’Driscoll one. Emma Connolly kicked three conversions.
