All Ireland League Roundup

Another disappointing day for the three Munster clubs in Division 1A of the Men’s All Ireland League, as Nenagh Ormond kept up their push for promotion in Division 1B and holders U.L. Bohemian maintained their challenge in the Women’s All Ireland League.
Cork Constitution saw victory snatched from them when a late converted try by St. Mary’s College saw the sides share the spoils 27-27 at Temple Hill. The home side led 13-7 and had tries from Daniel Hurley, Jack Kelleher, Billy Crowley and Jacob Sheahan. Aidan Moynihan kicked two conversions and a penalty.
Young Munster were surprisingly beaten by City of Armagh 31-24 at Tom Clifford Park. Hubert Gilvarry scored three of Munster’s four tries with Jake O’Riordan getting the other. Julian Leszczynski kicked two conversions.
Garryowen still remain bottom of the table after they lost away to Terenure College 42-26. The “Light Blues” scored four tries with Colm Quilligan, Brian Gleeson and Finn McCall being their try scorers. They were also awarded a penalty try. Kelvin Langan kicked two conversions.
Nenagh Ormond continued their push for promotion from Division 1B with an impressive 45-15 win over Shannon on the back pitch at Thomond Park. Patrick Scully scored two tries for the Tipperary side and Conor McMahon, Craig Hannon and Charlie O’Doherty were their other try scorers. McMahon kicked four conversions and four penalties. Eoghan Clarke and Stephen Kiely replied with tries for Shannon. Cillian O’Connor kicked a conversion and Mark Walsh a penalty.
U.C.C. won their Colours game with a 25-20 win over Dublin University at the Mardyke. George Rasmussen, Peter Hyland, David Cogan and Sean Condon were the College try scorers. Daniel Squires kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Highfield remain at the bottom of the table after 55-14 away defeat by Old Wesley. Dave O’Sullivan and Barry Spearman were the Highfield try scorers, and both were converted by Shane O’Riordan.
Cashel won a thrilling Division 2A encounter away to leaders Galway Corinthians 41-39, thanks to a late try from Noel Roche. Approaching half time Cashel led 27-7, but the Westerners rallied and looked like they would take the spoils. Ben Twomey scored two tries, two conversions and a penalty of Cashel’s tally. Ryan O’Sullivan, Tom Tobin and Alex Flannery were their other try scorers. O’Sullivan added two conversions.
Old Crescent eased their relegation worries with a 29-24 win over Ballymena at Takumi Park. Jonathan Byrne, Dean O’Grady, Timmy Duggan and Yasin Browne were the Crescent try scorers and McKenna kicked three conversions and a penalty.
U.L. Bohemian slipped out of the top four in Division 2B after their 30-21 defeat away to Malone. Killian Dineen and Paul Clancy scored tries for the Limerick side and Oisin Fagan kicked three penalties and a conversion.
Midleton maintained their lead in Division 2C with a 41-7 away win against Omagh Academicals. JB du Toit scored two of their six tries with Evan Donovan, Harry Jephson, Darragh Daly and Rian Hogan being their other try scorers. Jack Colbert kicked a conversion and a penalty, Kyle Read two conversions and Conan Doyle one.
Dolphin were pushed all the way by Ballyclare at Virgin Media Park before taking the points on a 28-27 scoreline. Karl Waterman, Tom Sheehan, Darragh Buckley and John Fitzgerald scored tries for Dolphin and Jordan Soli converted all four.
Clonmel raced into an early 12-0 lead after ten minutes at home to Enniscorthy with tries from Freddie Davies and Brandon Delicato and a conversion by Josef O’Conor, but Enniscorthy hit back to win 26-19. Davies scored Clonmel’s third try and O’Connor converted.
Bruff won their big relegation battle away to Tullamore 22-8 with tries from Cillian Rea, Shane Duggan, Sean Kilbridge and John Bateman. Ethan Anderson kicked one conversion.
U.L. Bohemian proved too strong for Wicklow in their Women’s All Ireland League encounter when they emerged with maximum points from a 59-19 away victory. Beth Buttimer and Maddy Kushner scored two tries each, and Éabha Nic Dhonnacha, Eilis Cahill, Chloe Pearse, Abbie Salter-Townsend and Abby Moyles were their other try scorers. Caitriona Finn kicked seven conversions.
A try from Niamh Crotty was not enough for Ballincollig who lost at home to Blackrock College 68-5.
