All Ireland League Roundup

The Men’s and Women’s All Ireland League resumed this weekend but six games in the Men’s League were postponed because of the weather conditions.
In Division 1A Young Munster kept their hopes alive of a top four finish with a 26-10 bonus point away win over local rivals Garryowen. The visitors led 14-0 at half time with tries from Julian Lesczynski and Samson Seinafo, with Lesczynski converting both. Oisin Pepper and Stephen McLoughlin added further tries after the break with Lesczynski converting one. Max Clein replied with a try for Garryowen and Dylan Hicks converted and also added a penalty, but the Light Blues are still rooted to the bottom of the table.
Cork Constitution moved back into the top four with a 26-17 away win over relegation threatened UCD. Sean French scored two tries for the Temple Hill side and Matthew Bowen and Aidan Moynihan got one each. Moynihan kicked three conversions.
A late try earned Nenagh Ormond a 38-34 home win over U.C.C. at the North Tipperary venue in a thrilling Division 1B encounter. Dylan Murphy scored two of Nenagh’s five tries with Jack O’Keeffe, Charlie O’Doherty and Mikey Doran getting the others. O’Doherty kicked five conversions and a penalty. Gene O’Leary Kareem scored a try, three conversions and a penalty of UCC’s total. Sean Condon, Peter Hyland, Luke McAuliffe and Conor Ryan were the other try scorers for College.
In the bottom of the table clash at Woodleigh Park, Highfield moved off the foot of the table with a convincing 36-10 win over Shannon. Club captain Travis Coomey led by example scoring three tries and Elliot Smith and Eoin Keating got one apiece. Shane O’Riordan converted four of the tries and also added a penalty. Alex Long replied with a try for Shannon and John O’Sullivan converted and also added a penalty.
With Cashel’s home game in Division 2A against M.U. Barnhall being a victim of the weather, Old Crescent lost at home to Greystones 25-13. Jonathan Byrne scored Old Crescent’s try and Ronan McKenna converted and also added two penalties.
U.L. Bohemian kept their challenge alive for promotion from Division 2B with an impressive 47-33 home win against bottom side Malahide. Jordan Mills, Lian Neilan, Alan Kiely, Darragh O’Gorman, Seamus Lyne, Joe Johnson and Sean O’Grady wire the Limerick side’s try scorers and Oisin Fagan kicked five conversions.
Midleton maintained their unbeaten run in Division 2C with an 18-13 win over local rivals Dolphin. Richie Daly and Andrew Beyrosti scored tries for Midleton and Jack Colbert converted one and also added two penalties. Craig O’Connell gave Dolphin an early lead with a try and Jordan Soli converted and also added two penalties.
Clonmel are level on points with Dolphin, after their 28-7 away win against Bruff. Josef O’Connor scored two tries and four conversions of Clonmel’s tally with Ben Everard and Andrew Daly also scoring tries. John Bateman replied with a try for Bruff and Sean Kilbridge converted.
In the Women’s All Ireland League Railway Union maintain top spot after their 58-3 away win a Ballincollig. Emma Connolly kicked a penalty for the home side.
Defending champions U.L. Bohemian are two points behind the leaders after their 50-17 home win against Galwegians. Stephanie Nunan, Maddy Kushner, Lyndsay Clarke, Eilis Cahill (2), Aoibhe O’Flynn and Rachel Allen were the winners try scorers. They were also awarded a penalty try and Abby Moyles kicked four conversions.
