The final series of games in this season’s All Ireland League saw Thomond’s 19 years as a senior club come to an end as Shannon are also relegated from the top flight and Clonmel keep their hopes of becoming the third Tipperary club to gain senior status alive after their 28-21 away win at Instonians.

Division 1A leaders Cork Constitution condemned Shannon to Division 1B of the All Ireland League following their 34-17 win on the back pitch in Thomond Park. The visitors led 17-7 at half time and had tries from Brian Hayes, James Murphy, Barry Galvin (2), and Greg Higgins. They were also awarded a penalty try. Aidan Moynihan kicked one conversion. Kelvin Brown, Eathon Moloney and Jamie McGarry replied with tries for Shannon and Fionn McGibney kicked two conversions.

Terenure College preserved their status with 22-15 home win over Young Munster. Luke Fitzgerald gave Munsters an early lead with a try. They were also awarded a penalty try and Shane Airey kicked a penalty.

A penalty with the last kick of the game by U.C.D.’s Conall Doherty saw the Dublin side share the spoils with U.C.C. at the Mardyke 20-20 and as a result avoided the Division 1B promotion play offs, instead it is U.C.C. who will take part in the series. Peter Sylvester, Daire Feeney and John Hodnett scored tries for U.C.C. and James Taylor added a conversion and a penalty.

Garryowen finished their campaign with a 39-22 defeat away to Dublin University. Darren Ryan, Cian O’Shea and Andy Keating scored tries for Garryowen and Jamie Ryan kicked two conversions and a penalty.

Division 2A champions Highfield completed their campaign with a 41-0 home win over U.L. Bohemian. Gavin O’Leary, Shane O’Riordan and Miah Cronin each scored two tries for the winners and Colin O’Neill also scored a try. Shane O’Riordan kicked three conversions.

Cashel ensured a home semi-final against Navan in the play-offs after their 32-24 away win at Irish Independent Park against Dolphin. Niall Fitzgerald, Josh Pickering, Richard Kingston and Aidan Butler scored tries for Cashel and Jonty Rea kicked two penalties and three conversions. Conor Flanagan replied with two tries for Dolphin and Daryl Foley and Rob Reardon each scored a try. Foley and Ryan O’Herlihy each kicked a conversion.

Nenagh Ormond finished their season with a 21-20 home win over Navan. Kevin O’Gorman, Gary Kavanagh and John Healy scored tries for Nenagh and Kavanagh converted all three.

Old Crescent lost at home to Queens University 43-31. Cathal Monaghan scored two tries for the home side and Jack O’Neill, Cathal O’Reilly and Brian Tuohy got one each. Kevin Meade kicked three conversions.

A last minute converted try denied Sunday’s Well victory away to Sligo in Division 2B as they went down to a 36-34 defeat. James Mulcahy, James Kiernan, Cormac Axson, Cormac Kelliher and Ryan Buckley scored tries for the ‘Well and Brian Derham kicked three conversions and a penalty.

A last minute converted try by Evan Cusack which gave Thomond a 26-22 away win in Division 2C was not enough to keep their AIL status as they were relegated to the Munster Junior League next season.

Bruff defeated a weakened Midleton side 26-8. Johnny Cleary scored two tries for Bruff and Jack O’Grady got one. Bruff were also awarded a penalty try. Kevin McManus and Davy O’Grady each kicked a conversion. Charles Murphy scored Midleton’s try and Stuart Lee kicked a penalty. The sides will meet again next week in Midleton in the Division 2C Promotion play-off.

Clonmel finished second in the All Ireland Provincial League after their 28-21 away win against Instonians at Shaws Bridge. Luke Hogan and Andrew Daly scored tries for Clonmel who were also awarded a penalty try. Dylan Cadogan kicked three penalties and a conversion.
