Ardscoil And Crescent Advance To Semi Final

Ardscoil Ris and Crescent College Comprehensive booked their spot in the Munster Schools Junior Cup semi-final today with victories over Cork side PBC and Glenstal Abbey School respectively.
Rockwell 13, C.B.C. 13.
Rockwell and holders Christians will have to it all to do again next Wednesday at Musgrave Park after they finished level at Clanwilliam Park.
Bill Johnston opened the scoring with a penalty for Rockwell but Michael O’Halloran had the Cork side level after seventeen minutes. A try by Daire Feeney converted by O’Halloran put Christians ahead. Johnston kicked a penalty on the stroke of half time to leave it 10-6 in favour of C.B.C..
Five minutes into the second half Liam Molloy got in for a Rockwell try and Johnston converted. A late rally from Christians saw O’Halloran level with a penalty five minutes from time to keep the holders in the competition.

Favourites Ardscoil Ris got the fright of their lives at Tom Clifford Park, as they withstood a great second half rally by Pres’ before booking their place in the last four.
The Limerick side enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the opening half and two penalties from Conor Fitzgerald had Ardscoil 6-0 ahead after nineteen minutes.
On the stroke of half time Peadar Collins made the extra man to score in the corner and Fitzgerald expertly converted from the sideline for a 13-0 interval lead.
Pres’ made some substitutions at half time and came storming back into the contest. They bombarded the Ardscoil line. Sean Lucey knocked on short of the line and their pressure was rewarded when lock Brian O'Mahony got in for a try after eight minutes.
Pres’ were back in the Ardscoil Twenty Two from the restart and from a line out Fiachra Kelleher barged over for a try.
Peter Sylvester looked like he had scored a third try for Pres’ when he collected a delightful chip ahead but was prevented from grounding the ball.
Ardscoil showed great determination to hold on to their lead a lovely break by winger Michael Fitzgibbon lifted the siege as he made a surging run before being stopped in the Pres’ half. The Limerick side pressed home their advantage and skipper Jerry McCabe got in for a try three minutes from time and Fitzgerald converted.

Favourites Crescent had to withstand a second half rally before booking their place in the semi final of the Munster Schools Junior Cup at Rosbrien.
Jeff Stafford opened the scoring with a penalty for Glenstal and Cian Clifford levelled with a penalty for Crescent. Tries from Peter Hickey and Anson Thai gave Crescent a 13-3 half time lead.
Glenstal hit back with tries from George O’Hara and Colm Hogan and a conversion by Stafford brought Glenstal right back into contention.
