Ardscoil & CBC Reach Bowen Shield Final.

Ardscoil Ris and CBC will contest this year’s final of the Bowen Shield.

Ardscoil caused the biggest shock of the day with a 13-12 away win over Rockwell. Padraig deBrun scored a try for Ardscoil and David O’Mahony converted and also kicked two penalties. Alan Mahon and Sean O’Connor scored tries for Rockwell with Tommy Anglim kicking one conversion.

C.B.C. edged out P.B.C. in the other semi-final at Lansdowne. Two penalties from David O’Sullivan to one by Jamie Murphy gave Pres’ a 6-3 interval lead. Tim O’Keeffe put Christians ahead with a try fourteen minutes into the second half but O’Sullivan landed his third penalty to restore the lead for Pres’. This was short lived as Michael Clune scored a second try for the home side to book their final place.

Christians and Pres’ will contest the McCarthy Cup Final after both won their home semi-finals.

C.B.C. defeated Crescent Comp. 30-8. Oisin Conway scored three tries for the winners and Darragh McGlynn got one. James Taylor kicked two conversions and two penalties. Brian Ryan replied with a try for Crescent and Clyde O’Connell added a penalty.

P.B.C. defeated Castletroy 12-8 in the other semi-final. An intercept on his own twenty two in the second minute by winger Owen Tuohy helped Pres to an early 5-0 lead. Despite playing into a strong wind, Pres’ extended their advantage with a try by Cian Fitzgerald and Harry Shanahan converted on eighteen minutes. Castletroy pressure was rewarded with a try by Darragh Gibbons two minutes before half time.

Castletroy dominated the second half and closed the gap with a penalty by Rory Hannon on forty minutes. Despite ten minutes injury time Pres’ put in a sterling defensive display to keep the visitors at bay.
