Ardscoil Rís Through To Final
5th March 2014 By Munster Rugby
Ardscoil Rís will hope to create history on 17th March at Thomond Park in the final of the SEAT Munster Schools Senior Cup, as they bid to claim the title for the first time.
St. Munchin’s 7, Ardscoil Ris 11.
Ardscoil Ris are through to their second final in the Seat Munster Schools Senior Cup and they will be hoping to emulate Limerick CBS who did the Harty Cup (Hurling) and Senior Rugby Cup double back in 1926 when they face the winners of Friday’s other semi final between Crescent College Comprehensive and Castletroy College which is scheduled For Rosbrien next Friday with a 3pm kick off.
Trailing 7-0 to Munchin’s at half time Ardscoil showed great courage and commitment to come from behind to win in what was a thrilling encounter against the favourites for this game.
Munchin’s enjoyed the better of the exchanges in the opening half but missed two kickable penalty efforts.
They took the lead in first half injury time when prop Peter Meyer got in for a try which Alan Wallace converted.
Three minutes into the second half Ardscoil reduced the deficit with a try in the corner from Paul McNamara.
A penalty from David O’Mahony in the fifty seventh minute put Ardscoil ahead and the out half completed the scoring with a superb drop goal in the third minute of injury time.
With wins over Glenstal Abbey, CBC and St. Munchin’s, Ardscoil will be full of confidence of becoming the eleventh School to put their name on this illustrious trophy on St. Patrick’s Day.
