Ballincollig & Tralee Claim All Ireland Titles

It was a great day for both Tralee and Ballincollig Women at Tullamore RFC yesterday as both sides claimed the All Ireland Plate and Shield titles respectively, while fellow Munster side Highfield were defeated by Galweigians in the All Ireland Cup.

Tralee defeated Queens University 46-0 in the Shield Final. Niamh Dempsey, Ciara Griffin and Marie Keating scored first half tries for Tralee and Ciara O'Connor kicked one conversion for a 17-0 half time lead.

Keating added three further tries after the break and skipper Riona Kennedy, Ciara Griffin and Ayesha Roche also got tries with O'Connor adding two conversions.

In the Plate Final Ballincollig defeated Cill Dara 10-7. Skipper Ger Gallahue scored Ballincollig's try and Lizzie Kelly kicked a conversion and a penalty to bring the trophy back to Tanner Park for the first time since 2006.

Highfield, who currently stand at second place in the AIL, lost their All Ireland Cup title by falling 26-18 short to Connacht side Galweigians.
