Bandon Meet Rockwell Next in Avonmore Milk Schools Senior Cup

Bandon Grammar booked a home tie against Rockwell next Wednesday in the Avonmore Milk Munster Schools Senior Cup after a 10-0 home win over Midleton College at Bandon RFC grounds at Old Chapel.

The game was played in very heavy conditions and with a strong wind and driving rain the game turned out to be a forward battle with Bandon edging it in the finish.

Midleton had the advantage of the elements in the opening half but despite dominating territorially failed to press home their advantage.

It was Bandon’s turn in the second half and their pack came close on several occasions to scoring but great defensive work by Midleton kept them at bay.

The deadlock was broken fifteen minutes from time when Darren Sweetnam kicked a penalty.

The home side extended their advantage shortly afterwards when Midleton full back Ben Mitchell who had an excellent game, failed to deal with an up and under and winger Mighty Okafor hacked the ball on and Ieuan Walters followed up to touch down and Sweetnam converted.
