A total of three of the four quarter-finals in the Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup have been decided.

Holders Garryowen came from 23-11 down mid-way through the second-half to beat Young Munster 26-23 thanks to a penalty from Peadar Collins three minutes from time.

Young Munster raced in to a 10-0 lead after five minutes with a try from Stephen Kerins and a conversion and penalty by Clayton Stewart.

Stewart extended the lead to 16-3 at half-time with two penalties. Collins opened Garryowen’s account with a penalty.

A try by Liam Cronin and a Collins’ penalty left it 16-11 early in the second-half.

Dan Walsh made it 23-11 in the visitors’ favour with a try and Stewart converted.

Tries from Collins and Darren Ryan and a Collins conversion tied up the scores as the game entered the final stages before Collins’ late penalty decided it.

Garryowen will now face Shannon in the semi-final next weekend after the Limerick side defeated Sunday’s Well 36-0 at Irish Independent Park.

The ‘Well’s indiscipline cost them dearly as they received four yellow cards over the eighty minutes.

Nathan Randles (2), Aaron Hehir, Robert Deegan, Ger Fitzgerald and Eathon Moloney were Shannon’s try scorers and Keith Kavanagh kicked three conversions.

There was another thrilling tie at Temple Hill where Cork Constitution edged out UCC 27-26 in a cracking tie.

Con’ raced into a 21-0 after 25 minutes with tries from Niall Kenneally, Rob Jermyn and Liam O’Connell all of which Aidan Moynihan converted.

Ryan Murphy scored a try for College to leave it 21-5 at the break.

Moynihan kicked a penalty in the opening minutes of the second-half but tries from Peter Sylvester, Richard Walsh and Cian Bohane all converted by James Taylor left it 26-24 in the students’ favour with 12 minutes remaining.

Con’ hit back with another Moynihan penalty and play went from end to end as both sides went in search of another score.

Con’ must now await the winners of the Cashel v Highfield tie to decide who they will meet in the semi-final.
