Bantry Bay Girls Play Their Part In Pink

The Bantry Bay U-15 and U-18 Girls’ teams played their part in raising awareness for breast cancer last month as part of the Irish Cancer Society’s Action Breast Cancer campaign.

The players and coaches of both sides, playing at a Munster 7s Blitz in Shannon, participated on the day wearing different shades of pink and pink face paint. It was a case of anything goes but it was all for a great cause.

Team coach Damien Hicks was very proud of the effort and intention behind the gesture: “All the players were conscious that breast cancer has affected so many families and friends. They were proud to wear pink to help raise awareness.”

The popularity of women's rugby has proven a great success in Bantry Bay RFC with many new members joining in recent weeks. The teams hope to make this an annual event and are already planning further events for next year.
