U13 Girls' teams competed in a recent blitz Damien Hicks

The first-ever Munster U13 Girls’ competition took place at Fethard RFC earlier this month with over 120 girls from 16 clubs taking part.

The competition was run in a blitz format with each team playing three matches on the day.

Bantry Bay’s Geraldine Hicks organised and ran the event with the support of Women’s Development Officer, Amanda Greensmith, and Community Rugby Officer, Eugene McCarthy, while Willie Schubert and Damien Hicks officiated the matches.

Polly Murphy of Fethard RFC was also on hand to host the matches, provide refreshments and ensure the smooth running of the event.

The competition extends and is scheduled to run across all corners of the province as Shannon RFC host a blitz on Saturday 24 February, Tralee RFC on Sunday 18 March, before a finals day is held at Ballincollig RFC on Sunday 15 April.

For further information on the U13 Girls’ blitz competitions, please contact Geraldine Hicks on 086 387 2876.
