Big Shock In SEAT Schools Cup Qualifier

St Clement’s caused a big upset in the Munster Schools Cup Qualifier at Fermoy with a deserving 17-5 win over favourites Bandon Grammar.

The West Cork side were strongly tipped to make an impression in this year’s Munster Senior Schools Cup, but they can have no complains as they were beaten by a better side.

Clement’s will now face Glenstal Abbey for the chance to play Castletroy College in the first round.

St Clement’s took the lead with a try by Aaron Dunne after twenty minutes following a push over the line by the Limerick College pack and Jack Broderick converted.

Two minutes before the break David Jennings scored a try following a driving maul from a five metre lineout to leave St. Clement's 7-5 ahead at half time.

Clement's extended their lead with tries from Ross Fitzgerald and Darragh Ryan early in the second half.

To their credit Bandon were camped in the Clement's half for the final quarter but solid defending by the Limerick side kept the Cork side out.
