Billy Keating (Sundays Well) RIP

Munster Rugby was deeply saddened to learn of the death of one of the games best known characters Billy Keating who passed away on Wednesday evening 19th October after a short illness.

Billy had been the Sunday’s Well delegate to the Munster Branch since 1999 having taken over from Dan Daly and had served in a number of roles as Chairman of the Domestic Games and also on the Disciplinary Committee.

As one IRFU official put it Billy was known the length and breath of the country and his passing will be mourned by all in the rugby community.

Billy played his rugby at Sunday’s Well and then went on to be a referee before becoming involved in the administration side of the club and was President in the 2007/2008 season.

While his passing will be mourned by all in rugby circles, this massive character will be missed by all in the ‘Well’.

His biggest loss will be to his wife Catherine, daughter Ciara and sons Liam, Tim and Darragh.

Ar debhis De go raibh a anam.
