Blitz Roundup | Age-Grade Blitzes Taking Place Throughout The Province

It has been a busy few weeks across the province with the Rugby Development department hosting a number of blitzes.

These blitzes have a strong focus on participation with many players getting their first taste of rugby.

Short-form editions of the game are promoted to provide more space for players which benefits their introduction to the sport.

Some of the blitzes took place in Killarney, Clonmel, Scariff, Bandon and Limerick.

As well as that the Patrician Academy Mallow held a TY coaching course.

It was a great day out for the young rugby players of east Clare as Scariff RFC hosted a Monster National School Blitz. There were a number of schools in attendance on the day and they even had Mark Donnelly join them for a post tournament Q&A.

In Clonmel over 200 boys and girls from schools in the area attended a touch rugby blitz in the Clonmel RFC.
18 teams participated on the day and each team was mixed boys and girls from 6th class.
The blitz was organised by Development Officer, Joe Sheehan, and Clonmel RFC Minis Coaches.
Schools that participated on the day were; Powerstown NS, Peter and Pauls CBS, St Mary’s CBS, Lisronagh NS, Ardfinnan NS, St Oliver’s NS, Clerihan NS, Grange, NS and Gaelscoil Chluain Meala.

Bandon RFC was the place to be for the students from St Mary’s Enniskeane, Scoil Padraig Naofa, Scoil Mhaoiliosa Knockavilla, Newcestown, Crossmahon, Laragh, Presentation Primary School, Gaelscoil Banndan earlier this month as they got the chance to show off their rugby skills as the 3rd and 4th class students took to the field for the day.

University of Limerick North Campus was the location for a super tag rugby tournament organised between University of Limerick Bohemians and Munster Rugby.
Taking part were the 6th students from Monaleen N.S, Milford N.S and Gaelscoil Chaladh an Treoigh.
