Bowen Shield & McCarthy Cup Update

Christian Brothers College and Rockwell are the only sides with three wins out of three in the Bowen Shield.

C.B.C. defeated Ard Scoil Ris in yesterday’s tightly contested Bowen Shield encounter at Lansdowne.
This game was a repeat of last season’s Munster Junior Cup final which the Sydney Hill College won on an 18-6 score line.
Tries from David Lynch and Darren Lee gave Christians a 14-3 half time lead. Jamie Murphy converted both and David O’Mahony replied with a penalty for the Limerick side.
The home side dominated the second half and had tries from Lee and William Trevor and a third conversion from Murphy.

Rockwell continued their unbeaten run with a 43-0 home win over St. Munchin’s. Tommy Anglim scored two tries for and four conversions for the winners. Alan McMahon added two tries and Willie Coffey, Ben Riley and Roy Horgan got one each.
P.B.C. recorded their first win in the Bowen Shield with a 24-6 win over holders Crescent Comprehensive at Wilton. Shane Daly, Caolan O’Flynn, Darragh Dempsey and John Poland all scored tries for the winners and David O’Sullivan kicked two conversions.
A last minute try by Nathan Clancy converted by Conor Redmond earned St. Clement’s a 20-15 victory over Castletroy College. High O’Brien also scored a try for Clement’s and Redmond converted and also added two penalties. Rory Linehan replied with five penalties for the Corbally College.
The Glenstal Abbey v Bandon Grammar game did not go ahead.
C.B.C. and St Munchin’s share top spot in the McCarthy Cup. Christians had a facile 56-0 win over defending champions Ard Scoil Ris. Oisin Conway scored three tries and a conversion for the winners. Dara McGinn got two tries and Joe Harrington, Michael Doherty and Killian O’Sullivan also crossed the white wash for tries. James Taylor kicked four conversions and two penalties.
St Munchin’s defeated Rockwell 20-10 to preserve their unbeaten record. Aaron McNamara and Cian McNamara scored tries for the winners and Jason Kiely kicked two conversions and two penalties. Paudie Feehan replied with a try, conversion and penalty for Rockwell.
P.B.C. defeated Crescent 24-5 with two tries from Eoin Touhy and one each from Michael St. Ledger and Cian Fitzgerald. Harry Shanahan kicked two conversions. Clyde O’Connell replied with a try for Crescent.
Bandon Grammar moved up to fourth place with a 39-0 away win over Glenstal Abbey.
A Sam Ward penalty was not enough for St. Clements who lost to Castletroy 40-3.
