Bowen Shield & McCarthy Cup Update

Christian Brothers College went top in the Bowen Shield as St. Munchin’s maintain their challenge with a win over St. Clements.
Castletroy College gave C.B.C. a walk over in the Bowen Shield to go three points clear of both Rockwell College and St. Munchin’s. Rockwell can join the Cork school at the top with a victory over Glenstal in their outstanding fixture on Friday.
St. Munchin’s defeated St. Clement’s 12-7. Kieran Bennett and Shane Halpin scored tries for Munchin’s and Peter Meyer converted one. Cian Quinlan was Clement’s try scorer and Conor Redmond converted.
Ard Scoil Ris defeated Crescent Comp. 15-8 to move into joint fourth place with St. Clement’s. Shane Fenton and Hugh Burke scored tries for Ard Scoil and David O’Mahony kicked a conversion and a penalty in their victory over Crescent.
C.B.C. and St. Munchin’s share top spot in the McCarthy Cup. Christians defeated Castletroy College in a hard fought game in Limerick. Oisin Conway and James Taylor scored tries for the Cork side and Taylor converted both and also added a penalty. Darragh O’Neill scored a try for Castletroy and Darragh O’Neill kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Two tries from Shane Corbett and one each by Cian McNamara and Aaron McNamara helped St. Munchin’s to a 27-18 victory over St. Clements. Jason Kiely kicked two conversions and a penalty. Sam Ward, Darragh Kelly and Peter Harrington replied with tries for Clement’s and Ward added a penalty.
Crescent College defeated Ard Scoil Ris 22-5. Sean Garry scored two tries for Crescent and Edwin Wixted one. Clyde O’Connell kicked two conversions and a penalty. Colin Slater replied with a try for Ard Scoil.
The Bandon Grammar v PBC games were postponed due to the weather.
