Bruff & Shannon Reach ODM Senior Cup Semis
17th September 2011 By Munster Rugby
Drama in both quarter finals of the ODM Munster Senior Cup as Bruff and Shannon snatch last minute tries to book their place in next week’s semi finals.
Holder's Bruff looked like losing both their ODM Munster Senior Cup and All Ireland Cup titles as they trailed 14-13 to Midleton at Kilballyowen Park deep in injury time but up popped Peter Malone to score a try which Tony Cahill converted for a 20-14 victory.
Bruff led at half time 13-11 with tries from Brendan Deady and David Horan and a Tony Cahill penalty. Aidan McCarthy scored a try for Midleton and Peter Brougham added two conversions.
Brougham edged Midleton in front with his third penalty but Bruff snatched that dramatic win.
It was also very exciting at Tom Clifford Park where Shannon edged out Young Munster 16-12. Young Munster led 9-6 at half time with three penalties from Willie Staunton and Gareth Quinn-McDonogh replied with two for the visitors.
Staunton and Quinn-McDonogh exchanged penalties before the last play of the game when Stephen Keogh got in for a try for Shannon and Quinn-McDonogh converted.
