Burns Men Reflect On Interpro Series

Following a busy summer of representative rugby preparation at the Munster Rugby Talent Camp and interpro series, father and son Graham and Ben Burns will now turn their focus to club and schools rugby.

Graham, Munster U20 Team Manager and Ben, Munster U19 hooker completed their interprovincial campaigns last week which saw Ben lining out for his province in all three interpro games.

Munster hooker Ben, will return to schools rugby this season playing with Castletroy College in the ‘Munster Senior Cup’ while Graham is back in coaching action with UL Bohemians RFC.

Graham reflects on a busy year which started with the U20 screening process back in January and included five weeks of intense training programmes in Rockwell College in which Ben also took part.

“While both squads were disappointed with performances in the Interpro series, we can both look back on what turned out to be a very busy summer with a fair degree of satisfaction that a lot of other targets were hit and plenty of work done for the future development of both squads was achieved”

The father and son duo have been delighted with their involvement with their respective Munster Rugby squads to date and look forward to continued rugby involvement.

Graham said “With both the U19 & U20 squads having five weeks in Rockwell, six weeks within different training locations and numerous gym sessions and games, the last 3 months have been hectic to say the least. Being in two places at one time has almost been perfected!!”

The interprovincial series will conclude this Sunday, 7th October when Munster U18 Clubs take on Leinster U18 Clubs in Thomond Park, ko 1.00pm
