Busy Weekend For Junior Club Rugby

The action in the Munster Junior League continues this weekend with games across all three Divisions.

In Division 1 defending champions Clonmel will be expected to claim all points on offer in their bid for a fourth successive title as they travel to East Cork to take on Youghal, who are still without a point.

Two former AIL sides Kanturk and Richmond lock horns at the Duhallow venue with Kanturk looking to make the most of home advantage count against the Limerick side, who have claimed maximum points from their first two games.

Kilfeacle, who are also on maximum points, will be expected to make life difficult for Waterpark at the West Tipperary venue, with the Suirsiders coming off the back of a 36-0 home win over St Senan’s.

Newcastle West, who claimed the bragging rights in West Limerick from their away win over near neighbours Abbeyfeale last time out will be expected to claim all points on offer as they entertain struggling St Senan’s.

Skibbereen, who recorded a shock victory over Bandon at Old Chapel, will have their work cut out as they entertain Clanwilliam and Bandon will be looking to get a result from their away tie against struggling Galbally.

Elsewhere, Cobh Pirates, who are also without a win face a tricky task as they welcome Abbeyfeale to the Paddocks.

There are two Cork derbies at opposite ends of the table in Division 2.

The game of the day sees second-placed Old Christians going head to head with leaders Kinsale at Rathcooney. The Seasiders have recorded two wins from two, while Old Christians were defeated by Mallow at St Joseph’s Road last time out.

In the other Cork derby, Ballincollig welcome Mitchelstown to Tanner Park for their basement clash, with both sides seeking their first points.

Crosshaven face a tough assignment as they host promotion hopefuls Thurles and Clonakilty are at home to Waterford City.

The two Kerry sides have home advantage.

Castleisland, who defeated Kingdom neighbours Killarney in their opener at home to Muskerry, who have two losing bonus points to their credit. This game goes ahead Saturday night.

Killarney will have their work cut out as they entertain St Mary’s who recorded a maximum point home win over Clonakilty last time out.

All the promotion hopefuls in Division 3 are away this weekend as Dungarvan are away to Fermoy and Killorglin take on Douglas-Carrigaline at Moneygourney.

There is a Kerry derby in the West Kerry Gaeltacht which sees Chorca Dhuibhne playing host to Tralee, with the visitors aiming to get a result in their bid for a quick return to Division 2.

Charleville make the long trip across the Rebel County to take on Bantry Bay and will be expected to record their second win.

Fethard, who recorded a maximum point home win over Chorca Dhuibhne in their opener travel to the Banner County to take on Ennis, who are seeking their first points.
