The Bank of Ireland Munster Senior Challenge Cup final takes place on Friday with Young Munster and Cork Constitution contesting for the prestigious club trophy at Irish Independent Park, 7.45pm.

Munsterrugby.ie caught up with the squad captains ahead of the festive clash.

Young Munster Captain – Alan Kennedy

“On behalf of the Young Munster RFC senior team, I’m looking forward to welcoming everyone to Irish Independent Park for what is set to be an exciting final between two great clubs.

“I want to take this opportunity to thank the supporters from both teams and for getting behind the club game. It is a great honour to be club captain of Young Munster RFC, especially for a Munster Senior Challenge Cup final.

“The Cookies haven’t won this cup in nearly 10 years so it would be a great privilege to bring the cup back to Limerick. Furthermore, I want to thank the Young Munster coaches and all the people that work so hard behind the scenes in the club for having the team in the best possible condition for this huge game.

“Best of luck to both teams and I hope everyone enjoys the best that Munster club rugby has to offer.”

Cork Constitution Captain – Niall Kenneally

“It’s a huge honour to be captain of Cork Constitution. We are a club with a proud history and tradition and it’s a privilege to lead this team. We have enjoyed great fortune in the Munster Senior Challenge Cup in recent years, and we are eager for further success in this fantastic competition.

“The Munster Senior Challenge Cup is a prestigious title and it’s fitting that two teams with such a brilliant rivalry will go head to head for the trophy once again. As players, we play for occasions like this and we’re looking forward to the latest encounter.

“I’d like to thank our coaches, management and all involved in our club for their continued effort and support this year. I’d also like to thank our sponsors, including our main sponsor Kearys Motors for their support. We hope to do all in our club proud in what promises to be another massive occasion.”
