CBC Book Semi-Final Place In Schools Junior Cup

Christian Brothers College are through to the semi finals of the SEAT Munster Schools Junior Cup after a deserved win over a game Ardscoil Rãs side at Irish Independent Park.

Christians, who went into this game as hot favourites, showed they are going to be the team to beat after another fine performance.

Skipper Eoin Monohan opened the scoring for the Cork side with a penalty after five minutes.

Two tries midway through the half by JD O’Hea and Finn Bourke put Christians into a commanding 13-0 lead.

A third try from Robert Hedderman four minutes before the break had CBC 18-0 ahead at half-time.

To their credit Ardscoil kept battling away and John Taylor got in for a try following a great break by Craig Casey. A Roy Whelan try six minutes into the second half was converted by Darragh O’Gorman to narrow the gap further.

Substitute Eoin Moloney steadied the Cork side’s nerves with a try eight minutes from time which Monohan converted.

From the restart, Ardscoil worked the ball up field and Darragh O’Gorman went in under the posts and he also converted to make it 25-14.

In the final minute Hedderman scored his second try and Monohan converted to book the Cork side a semi-final place.
