CBC & Crescent Ends In Draw

Rockwell wil have to wait another few days before knowing their opponents in this season’s Munster Schools Senior Cup after the second semi final ended all square.

Crescent College Comprehensive 3, C.B.C. 3.
It is back to Musgrave Park next Tuesday; kick off 3pm for these two schools after they played out a draw in the second semi final of the Munster Schools Senior Cup at rain sodden Tom Clifford Park.

At the end of the seventy minutes it probably was a fair result although Christians will feel they should have won it as they had more opportunities to score.

The big talking point of the game came ten minutes from time when Christians substitute Michael Clune was stopped short of the line and after several drives by the pack, C.B.C. were awarded a penalty five meters out just right of the posts, but the referee Shane Kierans attention was called to tell him that Christians had sixteen players on the field He promptly went back to halfway and awarded Crescent a penalty.

Both sides started as if they both wanted to play an expansive game but the weather dictated that this ploy would not work. Crescent took the lead after ten minutes when Gearoid Lyons landed a penalty.

Christians started to go through the phases and were level on sixteen minutes when Thomas Quinlan converted his first attempt at goal.

Both sides missed a penalty each before the half time whistle.

The Christians pack was getting on top after the break and at times they were driving Crescent back several meters but were unable to penetrate the Limerick school's defence to score.

Lyons was off target with a penalty on thirteen minutes and likewise Quinlan missed for Christians.

Lyons had another effort five minutes from time on the half way line but his shot was well wide of the target and a replay was probably the best result.
