CBC Go Top In Bowen Shield

After two series of games in the Bowen Shield CBC are the only side with two wins from two.
CBC travelled across the city to face arch rivals PBC at Wilton and came away with a 26-13 victory. CBC led 14-3 at half time with tries from Michael Clune and Chris Barry with Jamie Murphy converting both. David O’Sullivan replied with a penalty for Pres’.
With wind advantage in the second half O’Sullivan added a second penalty in the opening minutes but tries from David Lynch and Clune and a Murphy conversion saw the Sydney Hill College record their second victory.
Rockwell got their campaign off to a winning start with a 29-0 away win over defending champions Crescent Comp. Alan McMahon, Sam O’Connell, Felcian Wrixel, Rory Horgan and Ian O’Reilly scored tries for Rockwell and Tommy Anglim kicked two conversions and three penalties.
St Clement’s proved too strong for Bandon Grammar winning 32-3. Jack Broderick, Stephen Ogie, Josh Page, Cian Quinlan and Hugh O’Brien scored tries for the Limerick side and Conor Redmond kicked two conversions and a penalty.
It was a double victory for CBC as they defeated PBC 17-12 in the McCarthy Cup. Oisin Conway scored two tries for the winners and David Leonard got one with Jamie Taylor kicking one conversion. Eoin Touhy and Peter Sylvester replied with tries for Pres’ and Harry Shanahan added a conversion.
Bandon Grammar defeated St Clements 29-26 in an exciting contest. Peter Harrington and Enis Haxhij each scored two tries for Clements and Sam Ward kicked three conversions.
Crescent Comp. bounced back after last week’s defeat by CBC with a 26-10 victory over Rockwell. Clyde O’Connell scored three tries for the winners and John Blake got one. Brian Ryan kicked three conversions. Conor Cashman replied with a try for Rockwell and Paudie Feehan kicked a conversion and a penalty.
Holders Ard Scoil Ris lost away to St. Munchin’s 33-12. Aaron McNamara scored three tries for the winners and Marcus Brown and Darren Radcliffe got one each. Jason Kiely kicked four conversions. Ian Browne and Cameron Crowe replied with tries for Ard Scoil and Evan Cusack kicked a conversion.
Castletroy College defeated Glenstal Abbey 41-28. Luca Ridder scored four tries for the winners and Darragh O'Neill, Aaron Kennedy and Barry Richardson each scored a try and Dara Neville added three conversions. Charlie Galvin, William Murray and Johnny Williams scored tries for Glenstal Abbey and Declan Floyd kicked three penalties and two conversions.
