Christians defeated their Presentation Brothers counterparts to lay claim to the Barry Cup. In a game where they scored five tries, the Temple Hill men excelled in all areas.

CBC were in the ascendancy right from the off. Full-back William Trevor was on the end of a phase of passes in the fifth minute that had Darren Lee offloading for the score in the corner.

Seán Lotty was off target with his conversion attempt but he converted James Humphries’ try which followed just five minutes later.

Trevor was again involved in the attack as he brought the whole backline into play before Humphries crossed the whitewash.

Eoghan Cahill put even more of a gap between the sides as he showed excellent pace and acceleration to score a brilliant solo try. Lotty added the extras with ease.

PBC lost Jimmy Costello to an injury in Cahill’s attack, with David O’ Sullivan replacing the outside centre.

The frustration of the Western Road side came to the fore when Trevor scored his second try of the game. Though Lotty missed the kick, CBC still found themselves in the incredible position of being 24-0 up without even twenty minutes having passed.

The twenty-fifth minute finally saw PBC come into the game. Captain Conor Murphy recovered O’Sullivan’s kick, which allowed David to pass to Niall O’ Brien who burst through two tackles to put points on the board. O’Sullivan held his nerve to convert from outside the 22.

The second half saw CBC picking up right where they left off. Upon claiming the ball on the halfway, second row Daire Feeney raced away to score in the corner. He looked to have been felled by an ankle tap but his resolute determination saw him over the line.

Killian Horgan rewarded the efforts of the pack as he smuggled the ball over the line to raise a cheer from the Pres faithful. O’Sullivan was unlucky to see the prevailing wind divert his kick.

The game concluded as CBC celebrated a win they fully deserved.

Christians’ Junior B’s rounded off a great day for the college by overcoming the challenge of Crescent College Comprehensive.

Liam McCarthy’s try on the quarter hour mark was converted by Eoin Barrett, though Crescent got one back as the half concluded.

The Limerick side opened the second half with a try and a penalty and appeared to have the tie won before the intervention of Seán Lynch.

His try teed up Daniel Galvin who ignored the pressure on his shoulders to split the posts and conclude the game."" Captain Vincent Giltinan collects the Kidney Cup to round off a great day for CBC
